blink.gif Wow,I thought I knew what being tired was when I used to work ten hour shifts, but this is worse. For the past few days around 4 to 5 in the afternoon, then again at bedtime I get so tired that tired isn't even a good enough word.I feel as if I can't go even another minute.I get this feeling of breathlessness with the fatigue,it lasts for a while then slowly goes away.I must admit,I was feeling much better(thank GOD)but I have been drinking caffeine, eating a bit more sugar and salt.I guess I fell back into old habits because I was feeling so much better.Has anyone else felt this way?The fatigue is scary,it hits like a ton of bricks, and is quite debilitating. Also, for the past few days my eyes have been extremely dry-they ache from being dry and they feel so tired,I almost wonder if I need glasses.I have been using eye drops, but I also think my tear duct is inflamed,it was a few months ago(from all the crying)and the dr said to hold warm cloths against it,but the dryness is really bothersome.Any advice or support welcomed.Thanks.

Although I didn't experience the sense of being out of breath, there were times in peri that around 4 or 5:00 p.m., I would utterly crash! Sometimes I would start supper, turn off the burners on the stove, go lie down on the couch, and start again later if I could! Sometimes hub would have to finish for me. The fatigue was brutal!

And a couple of times, I served the family and then literally (yes I swear I did this) lay my head down on the dining room table while others ate. Why didn't this tell me something!!!? blink.gif Like - maybe it wasn't necessary that I should be the cook for everyone every night? (Kids were living with us at the time.)

Don't know what it was about that time of late-day, but that's when it would hit.

The breathlessness - could you be anemic? There are times my blood count has gotten low (due to heavy periods), and there's been a lot of lightheadedness. Now that I'm post, this is no longer an issue.

((HUGS)) - hope it passes soon.

Hi Lady E! I haven't had the breathlessness but I can identify with the fatigue....got this really really bad when I was on a TRIAL of BCP for about 2 and a half months. After I stopped the fatigue gradually dissapated thought I was still left with the fog!

For me I found that the culprit may be the progesterone as a trial of just bio progesterone also made me very fatigued where as very short (only 10 days or so) of just estrogen did not. Also I found that anything that stimulated the adrenals glands (too much coffee (lots of cups) included) has the opposite effect of a stimulant and make me fatigued as well...ginseng also did this as did too much cinnamon.

The progesterone bio cream made my eyes very dry....and I also tend to generally get dry eyes at different times in my cycle but hard to generalize if that is because of too much or too little progesterone that is naturally occuring in my cycle...one thing for me is clear that estrogen is always lower than my progesterone no matter when in the cycle so it may be that imbalance....perhaps you are dealing whith an imbalance of the two as well....well, hope this helps! Not out of breath or breathlessness, that happened in my early 40's. Now the fatigue hits around 4:30 when I get home from work, I just have to sit down, put my head back and rest, maybe sleep, for about 20 minutes then, just feel tired til bedtime, 9:30. It's REALLY bad when it hits in work, around 1:30 and I just d r a g until 4. We have to just roll with the punches, take our vitamins, and keep getting enough rest at night or the bags under the eyes will develop blink.gif

Have you had a cardiac check-up? Women's HD symptoms differ from men's, and fatigue and SOB are two of them. Don't mean to alarm, but it's something to consider.

Lady E,
I have the out of breath feeling and it started over the summer when so many symptoms seemed to hit full force. This was odd for me because I have exercised since I was a teenager, I would run and run for miles. I made exercising daily a priority, so I don't think I was out of shape. Suddenly I was winded coming up the stairs an d had less stamina to do exercising as long. I seemed out of breath over simple physical tasks, however with all these symptoms came a stuffed feeling in my nose daily so whether this is contributing? I also notice a feeling as if I had asthma before a period...like my throat is quivering or spazing don't know if this is related to being stuffed up also. I would get checked if you haven't anyway.

The fatigue is horrible some days and also came when the other symptoms hit a peak. I wake up tired now where as before I could go and go. I can't seem to sleep enough. there are times when I am so fatigued and have this sense of being spacey that I feel to move my arm is too much. My fatigue can come on quick too...I am hypoglycemic and noticed since all of this I am more sensitive to sugar lows. HUGS Mikki

EKG is snap shot, get stress test with thallium, and complete blood work, better save than sorry. No one uses EKG nowdays to Dx heart desease. Please, make an appointment with cardiologist!
best wishes,
I.

I have no health insurance and cannot afford to get all these tests unless there is a definate problem.I truly believe the shortness of breath is stress related.Last night I got really upset and there was the shortness of breath-well I took a xanax and it went away.I think my muscles tighten and make me feel that way.I really think my heart is fine.I appreciate your concern.

Hi Lady E,

Sorry you are having these problems! I get the fatigue at work around 3 p.m. every day and sometimes I feel like I could just fall asleep at my computer if I had a comfy pillow! Also, I have been experiencing a "smothering" feeling for about a month and as a result, I had a test for asthma yesterday (have already had heart tests-all fine) and the technician performing the test said it didn't look like asthma, but that anxiety was most likely the cause. It isn't related to any activity I am doing, and I don't notice it if I am exercising. I am taking Xanax too (tho trying to get off it-- don't know if that's going to work for me), and everytime I have these smothering spells, Xanax relieves it. I get the chest tightness really bad too and I know it is anxiety related and possibly a panic disorder. My doctor tells me one can have a panic attack for no reason due to fluctuating hormones. I always feel worse when I don't eat well too. I hope this helps and I hope you feel better soon!

Take care,

Mary Jo

bluewillow, smothery is exactly how I felt,it never happened during exercise, and now that I have looked back I see it happening whenever I get stressed or panicky. Thanks for your reply.GOD bless.
