blink.gif Hey,I haven't been on the board for a few days because I have been feeling pretty darn good-Thank GOD!!Well today out of the blue I felt a little twinge of anxiety followed by a period of tiredness and a feeling of being down.I was wondering if anyone here had felt this before.I mean I was feeling great, then all of a sudden,it was as if the world just wasn't as bright-you know?I have a feeling it may have to do with me not taking my vitamins yesterday or today,I was feeling so good I forgot.I will take them with dinner.I hope this goes away soon.

Hi LadyE! Sounds *normal* to me. It seems to be happening more frequently to me lately.Kind of like I feel a shift in my mood for no apparent reason. There are underlying reasons with stress and all but I just don't feel like I have the control I used to have and seem to get down real easily. I think it is worse on my girls. I then feel guilty about it and then it spirals even faster. What to do! What to do! The tiredness can hit in the middle of the day or already be with me in the morning. I HAVE been here alot lately and wish I wasn't :-( Don't forget to take your vitamins! We need all the help we can get...TGIF Have a relaxing weekend!

Well,I feel better emotionaly today, just very tired.I was fine till around 4:30,then its like someone pulled my energy plug.I took my vitamins a while ago,I hope that helps. We also went and bought one of those memory foam mattress',so I am looking forward to bedtime. My darling you are right-the anxiety was not bad at all this time,I truly thank GOD for that.It seems that The longer I am on the Yasmin the better I am feeling. Thanks all for the replies. smile.gif

LadyE, I can so relate to this. I never know how I'm going to feel from day to day. It's all so up and down with my moods and energy. I'll have a great day with no complaints, then wake the next day with a "hung-over" kind of feeling. Some days I feel mad at my hubby, then the next day, I'm so surprised how I could have felt that way (today was one of those days!). It's always a relief though to come here to Power Surge, because it helps me understand that this is normal and there are ways to cope with these confusing feelings. Yes, vitamins are important -- and I take them every day religiously -- but I'm still on a seemingly never-ending roller coaster ride! rolleyes.gif

DITTO you guys-I only wish I could know which days would be bad so I could plan around them-I hate to make plans because I get worried it will be one of 'those' days-I find on a good day I go ahead and plan things for the future and then when a bad one comes I kick myself for it!My poor husband-he never knows what to expect-hang in there ladies! mochombo

All day today I have felt like I was coming down with the flu-tired,hung over feeling, slight headache, nauseated, etc.I have had an achey feeling all over and I feel slightly depressed.Last night-right before bed I started having panic attack symptoms.Feeling like I wasn't getting enough air and feeling scared for no reason.I truly hate these ups and downs.I was feeling really good, and I guess I just took it for granted-I didn't take my vitamins and I also drank a very large amount of caffeine yesterday.I really need to watch how I care for myself.I hope I am not getting sick, when you have kids in school it happens a lot.Well, better go do something I don't feel like doing(lol)

LadyE,
Can you tell me what the Yasmin is that you said you were taking? My endo wants me to take Seraphin (sp?) a form of Prozac, for the anxiety. It usually hits a few weeks before my period and she said I could just take it for those two weeks and then go off of it. Has anyone done this or heard of it?
thanks,

Yasmin is a low dose birth control pill,my dr said it would help with my symptoms and it has. This is my third month on them and the anxiety has decreased as well as hot flashes, tiredness, and insomnia.I still have bad days and good days, but the intensity of the bad is much less.I am no fan of antidepressants,is that what seraphin is??I hate the side effects.I have a prescription for xanax for my bad anxiety,I take it only when I really need it,which hasn't been often lately-thank GOD.I hope you feel better,GOD bless.

Hi LAdyE

Could you elaborate just a bit on the vitamins you are taking - my peri started with palps - they left - then came the nausea - that subsieded now - the anxiety - particularly in the AM - miss myself - you know the old me !!! I'm sure youcan relate- anyway - which supplements have you found most helpful - particularly for this anxiety which seems so physical.

grateful for any input - hope this finds you having a good day - Pookish

Hope you don't mind if I chime in here. Morning anxiety can be due to elevated levels of the stress hormone cortisol. It is normal for cortisol levels to rise towards morning. This helps people get up and get going. However, too much cortisol, which may result from prolonged stress or messed up hormone production, can create feelings of anxiety. Vitamin C, 1000 mg, will bring down cortisol levels and may help with the morning anxiety, especially if you take it early, say 5 or 6 am.

Body builders use vitamin C to bring down their cortisol levels because high levels of cortisol apparently make it difficult or impossible to build muscle. They use vitamin C for this purpose, also phosphatidyl serine, but while I take the vitamin C daily and feel it does help, I haven't ried the phosphatidyl serine (yet).

thanks Maria - any and all thoughtful advice is appreciated. The problem is that the symptoms of peri are so jumbled that unless you have only one at a time its hard to tell exactly what you're feeling. I know that sounds strange but that's my experience. I've had good history with vitamin C in the past having had CFS and related Epstein Barr about 10 years ago. I took many supplements at that time prescribed for me by an excellent naturopath which helped me get better over a period of time. I have (thankfully) felt well for a long time so until this peri thing hit me between the eyes I was taking no supplements at all and eating poorly too I must admit. Now I'm back to square one (a little dpressed about that) trying to relearn the best way to try the symptoms. Am a newbie at this peri thing so am still feeling like a deer in the headlights. Thank you for your input and please chime in anytime!!!!!

Have a wonderful day

I take phosphatidyl serine (Seriphos) from my naturopath at noght before I go to bed. Test showed that my cortisol was high at night. Yes, I use to have racing thoughts and insomnia...bith are better. I'm on a lot of other supplements and also take bioidental hormones.

I take a one daily multi vit, calcium with d,and magnesium(up to 750 mg)the mag really helped my palps, they are hardly an issue anymore,I heard calcium is good for anxiety, but I feel that exercise helps anxiety more than vitamins.GOD helps more than anything!!Hope that helps GOD bless.
