Full Version: ARE FSH LEVELS RELIABLE INDICATOR OF MENO?

Wow...I was hoping my blood test would show at least a 29 FSH level! But 13...yikes. The estrodial level was 69. Does this mean I'll be 60 when I reach menopause? I'm 55, do not have hot flashes..(except when I'm waiting long in the checkout line and the checker has to do a price check)
But my main problem is the erratic bleeding...I don't want to take estrogen (I have some medical issues) and the progesterone isn't helping much.

I'm also wondering if there is something in the Guiness Book of Records for latest menopause and maybe I could qualify for it? laugh.gif

Went to endo last Friday. I did ask about FSH test but he said the hormone levels flucuate so much it is nearly impossible for the test to be accurate.

I agree with Marrin. What I have come to understand is that the best and only time to check FSH is the 3rd (morning)day of menstruation. Sometimes mine don't even go 3 days LOL! I have often thought that I should go when I am having a clearly bad day and have them tested then. 55 does seem older but 51 is just the average. I'd rather go out late than early, atleast you still have some hormones working for you. You also may end up one of the lucky ones that breeze through it with virtually no symptoms at all and suddenly one day the cycle just stops. I'd be counting my blessings!!!!
