HI ladies......

ok, I have two questions. First, does anyone here get worse sinus symptoms NOW that they're in peri? This is becoming a real drag, I can't get rid of this. My dr. said it's not an infection, just "sinus", well that's nice. I've had "sinus" for YEARS, so did my mother, and my sister has it too. So I'm very used to this, and used to dealing with these stupid "headaches" for years, but this is different. NOW, it seems to ONLY be on my left side, on the left eyebrow, left side of my nose, and the left side of my forehead, even sometimes up to the left side of the top of my head! See, before, it was usually the whole forehead that would get that sinus pressure. NOW, it's only on the LEFT! And, for years when I'd get these sinus headaches, I'd get them on and off, on occassion, like NORMAL! NOW, however, I seem to be living with this!!!!!!!!!! OK, so does anyone have the same problem!?

Secondly, I've been wondering if it's "normal" for hormones to seem to "settle" on a certain side, say your left or your right side.
I mean, so many of my problems now are on my left side. I woudl think, since the hormoens are in your blood, they'd be wrecking havoc all over your body, not just on ONE side, no?

I don't mean to sound so darn whiney.....I guess I"m just frustrated and venting!

thanks ladies! Sincerely, MyDarling

Hi darling

Can't offer anything on issue 2, but on issue one - sinuses: In Jan 2006 I ditched two vacuums as being unfit for service because my allergies were through the roof. Bought a new one with cups and hepa filtres of all discriptions. 3 week to the day later - acute vag dryness. It was like a switch was thrown off. Everything, and I mean everything skyrocketed over the next 6 weeks. I found this site, and the list of 34 symptoms. Guess what's on it. ps I'm on bht, and the allergies have reduced to the status quo, pre peri style.

MyDarling,

I have this sinus thing on the right side. I don't know if it is the same thing as you have but maby it can help you if I describe how it feels to me:
I don not have pain all the time but I can feel it is somehow allways on the background, a pressure feeling.
It is worse when I lay down and when I suffer from all the other weird symptoms. Sometimes I can feel and even hear like a litte plop in the channel between my right ear and sinus area and that gives me a small relief for a few minutes.
I feel the pain in the same area as you do except that I can feel like it is also in, or behind, or near my eyeball as well.
I don't know if there is a connection with the ringing in my right ear that I have practically all the time. I read some posts about the ear ringing on this site and it seems not to be so.
I had it checked and I have no sinus infection!

Maby the reason why some of us have more problems on one side of the body is because of the brain function.
It depends on which side of your brain is the most effected by hormonal changes. This can be different for any of us.
This is just a thought I have!

Mydarling,

I can so relate to your post! I have had the "sinus" thing for years and so do my DD and DS. Mine also is just on the left side these days and that seems to be only in the last few years. I used to get the whole forehead pain but now when I get the headaches (all the time) they are only concentrated on the left. I can feel the pressure under my cheekbone and even my teeth hurt on that side!

On the other hand, my DD gets hers all on the right. She had x-rays years ago for a sinus problem and they found a polyp in her right sinus so that's why she gets more pain there. I have never had one so don't know if that's my problem too.

I have no idea if it's all peri related as I have had sinus problems since I was a teenager. Always can tell when there's weather coming!

Sorry I don't have more words of wisdom, I just wanted you to know you're not alone! smile.gif

Yep, sinus all over the place. Always prone to "sinus head" but since peri began in Nov/Dec. it's been one big sinus fest. My next appt. will be with an ENT since I believe I do have polyps.

oh wow....thank you guys! yeah, this ache, throb, weird sick feeling, pressure, feeling is on the left alright, and it makes me feel sick, I don't know if you guys get that feeling or not, but when this really kicks in, I feel nauseas, it also throws me into a good panic attack as well. Now, this isn't the case ALL THE TIME however, most of the time, I just sort of live with this lousy pressure/ache in the left temple, and on that bone there, outside your ear (where I have TMJ as well). Sometimes the pressure feeling goes up to the top of my head on the left side.

I live in FLA., the allergy capital of the world..lol..but this is really to much! I WAS A NORMAL PERSON TILL JANUARY 2007 HIT! All I know, is that after that, every possible ache, pain, stabbing, pressing, choking, burning, tingling, searing PAIN has hit me, in all different places, and now the head! HOLY MOLY! I live on Benedryl, which is not good, I mean, I can't just go on like this!
I try to not take if I don't REALLY need to, but I end up giving in towards the end of the day, I can't chance having it blow into a panic attack!

Anyway, thanks everyone, I really do appreciate your help! Sometimes, I become so afraid I'll die from this..LOL...well, I know that sounds funny, but since January, I keep thinking thoughts like that, always the worst case senario! I feel as though some vein is going to burst in my temple, OR I'll wake up one day and see some huge bulging lump there, I don't know.....this fear thing is horrible! See, if it would go away (which it did for about 2 weeks) then I'd at least be reassured that it must just be something such as sinus, or allergy, but this time, it's really hanging on!

God Bless you all! Sincerely, MyDarling

Mydarling,

I've never really talked about the following, but I think this may be the place. I'm almost four years postmeno, but when I was in peri, I continually had problems with ear infections. I'd get water in one of my ears (I wondered if it was one ear, like you said on one side of the body, but I think I remember both ears). I couldn't shake the water out of my ear for the life of me, and I always had the annoying gurgling sound of water rattling around in there. I tried Q-Tips (even though you're not supposed to insert them in your ear) and I couldn't get in there far enough to soak up the water. Then I'd always get an infection, called "swimmer's ear." I don't swim, but would get water in my ears from washing my hair and taking a shower, and no matter how careful I tried to be, I couldn't avoid it happening.

This went on all during peri, for about three years. I got so tired of going to the doctor and getting the same eardrops that I stored the bottle in the refrigerator to preserve it between uses. You're supposed to discard the unused portion, but I knew I'd be getting the ear infection again, so I already had the bottle of eardrops. The eardrops always cleared it up, but then in a few weeks, I'd get water in the ear and then another infection.

Now, in post meno, I can't remember when I last had an ear infection. Nothing has changed; I still wash my hair and get water in my ears, but I'm able to shake it out. Why I couldn't shake it out before is a mystery.

So I truly believe the recurring ear infections were something to do with peri, but this sounded so weird that I never really told anyone. I know it's not the same as sinus, but maybe it is related somehow.

HI,

thank you csugargrove! well, it very well COULD be related! who knows! I've learned through all of this nonsense that plenty of things ARE definatley related in the body, say for instance, now if I bump my toe, my pinky on my right hand hurts! LOL...geez!
I've heard of that swimmers ear thing, and I know that can really be a problem, and painfull! Well, I only hope this doesn't last three years! GOSH! You must have wanted to pull your hair out! I still find it absolutley amazing how much havoc these hormones can really do!

thank you once again!!! Sincerely, MyDarling

Mydarling,

I sometimes think you are reading my mind when I read your posts! I was just wondering why my sinuses are so terrible since entering peri - and everything is more exaggerated on the left side. My left forehead, temple, ear, etc. are all much worse than the right side. Every day my sinuses are so stuffed up - it's miserable. It does make me feel a little better to know that I'm not some kind of a freak - that others are experiencing the same weirdness.

My sinus has been worse, and it has been on the left as well.I even have had the sensation it was barely bleeding in there, and dryness-my eyes and nose get so dry, then stuffy then runny.Thankfully It is better now.If taking benedryl so often is a concern, maybe you could go on Zyrtec,my daughter is on it right now,she is also using Nasonex, they are helping her a lot.I hope that helps.
