Hi Ladies,

I called Dr. Warner and had a consultation due to my progesterone intollerance. He suggested a new combined estradoil 1 mg. and a new type of progesterone. This is a somewhat new product. Has anyone tried t and what arethe side effects. I'll have to pay $25 for it and don't want to buy it if it will just be another failure. I continue to experience a "paradoxical effect" on all lprogesterones. He thought this might be worth a try. It has bio-identical estrakoil in it. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with it?

Thanks,
Ethans Nana

Dear Ethans Na Na, Sorry I cant really help but I have heard of the continuous combined pill called Angelique. It is on prescription in the U.K. and is a combination of oestradiol and progestin called drospirenone. It is a no bleed formula for women 12 months past their last period. I am sorry I dont know anyone who has tried it but hopefully someone will post. Today I have felt pretty much at my wits end with hot sweats which have returned with a vengeance since I stopped my continuous combined patch several weeks ago. My G.P. in England said I have given two types of HRT a try neither of which I could tolerate because of side-effects to the progestin - she gave me a prescription for an antidepressant, (cipralex). I am not really down at present but do get the non specific anxiety that is very typical at menopause. I am wringing with sweat as I type and feel very out of sorts with my bowels, (sorry to be graphic). Like you I wish I knew what to do for the best. Yours truly, Simba 2.

Angeliq is the "YAZ/Yasmin" formula adjusted for menopause. Contains a progestin called drospirenone (cousin to spirinolactone that is a potassium sparing agent that helps with fluid retention, testosterone levels). This is NOT a bioidentical solution, but some women on this board have success with YAZ.

Hello,

Thanks for the responses. Do you think someone such as myself that can't seem to tolerate progesterone might be able to take Angeliq? I havent had any luck with any types of progesterone. Even vaginal at 15 mg. makes me depressed. SinceI'm on BHRT for depression and progesterone makes me depressed, maybe I just can't be on BHRT. I'm getting very uncomfortable taking unopposed estrogen, although it's only been a couple of months. I feel so good on Tri-est. Hate to give it up but who wants hyperplasia (sp? or endometrial cancer). My gyno said she'd give me ultrasounds twice a year and also endo biopsies if I choose to use vaginal progesterone. I guess she doesn't think it offers enough protection.

Best wishes to all. I'm sitting here in bed with my computer because my husbad is already asleep snoring and it's only 9:00 p.m. MENOPAUSE CAN SURE BE A LONELY TIME OF LIFE> I've stopped trying to talk to hi much about it. He's not very interested. Glad I can come here and "talk."

Unfortunately there is no real way to predict individual response and also just as unfortunately "progestins" come with their own set of problems, as does this particular type. If it were me, I'd check into the yeast/candida free diets (Uzzi Reiss implicates these problems in women who can't take progesterone) and THEN try to add the progesterone back in 1 mg at a time..30 mg is still a good-sized dose, vaginally or otherwise.

Hi Surg,

Thanks for the suggestions. I have been on a sugar-free and flour free diet for one and one-half years. I lost 42 lbs. and am staying on it and maintaining. I'm not sure how I can use 1 mg. of progesterone. My dropper doesn't go that low. it measures .5 ml. Is a ml the same as a mg? I have some prog. lotion with this dropped. The 1st measurement is .5 ml. Would 1/5th of this be 1 g?

Thanks again,
Ethan's Nana
