Indigoblue
Hi, this is my first post. Sorry to have skipped the formalies, but I just had a terrible thing happen. I have been having weird periods for the last 3 months after totally skipping October. I am 36 BTW and had been 28 days like clock work before that. When I started again in Dec it wasn't like my normal period, it started with days of spotting, about the time I thought the real flow would never begin, it did, and lasted 2 weeks. Its been cycling like this since. Plus I've been having what I assume are hot flashes, not bad, not constant, just kind of aggavating. Well today, after being on my period for about 14 days off and on, I started with the brownish stuff(TMI sorry) so I though finially its finished. But I was WRONG. Thank god I was home! I was sitting and stood up and its like a dam broke! Blood poured down my legs along with clots. I ran to the bathroom where more clots came out. I'm sorry to be so graphic but this was just gross. I shudder to think what would have happened had I been in public.

So, could this be perimenopause? I plan to see my obgyn , but I just wanted to see if this could be a symptom. Maybe I have a fibroid though. I've been having lots of huge clots with the last few periods, is this a symptom of peri?

TIA for any imput

Indigo!!!

Welcome to the beginning of Peri!!! You are in good company here and there are many of us that have been through exactly what you are talking about. For me it started at 38, but I didn't realize that was happening to me until I was at the gyne's office paying the bill and I happened to look down at my folder and he had checked off the block that said perimenopause...I kind of freaked out. On my way home I stopped at the book store and bought John Lee's book, everything you wanted to know about Menopause that your Dr. won't tell you...or something like that.

You will be fine!!! It is quite a journey but you will be in good company while you are on that journey.

Come visit us in the "What's Your Symptom Today" forum...you will find a lot of us yakking about these same things you are going through.

Hugs,

Welcome Indigo,

I've had the same thing happen to me in the beginning of peri. I am glad however that you are going to be checked out just to reassure your mind that there are no other problems. Anxiety is a huge part of peri for some of us and you needn't add more stress worrying about your health. You will find TONS of support and understanding here at PS. Please let us know how your Dr. visit goes. Take care!

Hi,

you're in the right place! yes, that sound to me like peri, and no, you're not to young! I also believe God led me here, becauseI was so darn anxious and frightened at the symptoms my body was going through, I was flipping. But, I have learned so much, and found so many good caring and intelligent friends here, I thank God for this place all the time! I've had the same experience as you, and thank God, I was home too! Now, I'm 49 yrs. old, but still in all, this is all quite frightening! But it's part of this whole change. Yes, lots of blood, and clots, and you end up thinkng you're dying! LOL but, you're not! More than likeley, seeing your GYN will put your mind at ease, and don't be to worried about all the anxiety, its part of the deal.

Welcome, and we're glad you found this place too! Sincerely, MyDarling

Thanks for the replies. I truely appreciate them. Its happened twice more since I posted blink.gif I get lulled in to thinking its finished by the lenghthof time with nothing on spotting, like all day yesterday, then this morning I got up and it was like a tidel wave!

I've recently had neg. pelvic and pap so I'm not keen on running back to Dr now that I know others have had this. I will wait it out a little. I don't want to go on the pill unless it gets unbareable...thanks again you all are a life saver!
