i only have 1 ovary (no uterus), so from what i've been told, i still cycle and have eggs even though i don't have a period. so does anyone know if i use hrt, will it basically be the same ? i have low estrogen levels, and need a small dose. i guess what i'm asking is if a women is still having periods, and she has low estrogen, can she add some hrt and still have a period and cycle normally. thanks

HI Kelly
I've been reading through a few of your posts, and it does sound as if estrogen is an issue for you.
You'll know if you don't have a uterus, you won't require progesterone.
While I have a uterus, I am done to one ovary, and when I started on HT, I was cycling, having a period. Now I'm taking the prometrium daily, so no more period.
The thing is, with only one ovary, we're at a disadvantage. Ovaries are the principle source for estrogen, and supply us with 1/2 of our testosterone. The rest comes from fat and the adrenals. I know you're concerned about hair loss. Sometimes hair loss is from too much testosterone because the individual is using testosterone as part of her hormone replacement therapy, but it can also result from too little estrogen if the body is creating testosterone at levels sufficiant to cause an imbalance.
You know I've been throught the mill. Kelly, the estrogen is making a huge difference. I wonder if it would help you, too.
Major hugs
Susan
