I used to get breast swelling about 10 days before my period. Now I seem to have it all the time. Is this all part of peri??

Hi....

I don't know if that's actually part of peri, but the same thing happens to me! My breasts would swell up so much before my period, now, it seems they're like that al lthe time. I figure it must be! It's obviously hormonal, that's what controls your breast size to begin with. Yeah, it's probably safe to say it's peri....

One of the more positive aspects of meno for me ( besides no more periods!) is actually having a bustline! I was always so small chested, maybe a couple of notches above Olive Oil (Popeye's girlfriend). Now I actually have "cleavage".

Too bad I feel so crummy that I can't enjoy them, if you know what I mean! Bless my husband...he's been so patient in that department.
Then again, he really has no choice!

I think excess estradiol cauese breast swelling. Have either of you with swelling had your estradiol measured ? I know having bigger boobs can be fun :-), but it might not be such a good thing.

Are you on hormones or bcp? Some women report breast size increases on these, mine have gotten just a bit bigger but not much.

I have not had my estradiol measured, but since I have an FSH off the charts, am 52 and no periods, my doc puts me at post menopause.
I am not on HRT (yet, but am seriously considering it due to almost unbearable other meno issues))

My boops came when I put on 35 pounds over 5 years (probably during my peak peri). I have lost the weight during the last year, but the boobs have remained! My younger sister had a hysterectomy 5 years ago...she put on weight and gained cleavage as well. I believe that there's a connection with fat cells and estrogen. Perhaps our bodies are trying to hang on to what little estrogen we are making these days, and breast tissue consists of a lot of fatty tissue ???

No I've never been on either and my periods are normal just had a couple of odd ones in a year and a half. But as I'm almost 48 and have other symptoms like increased anxiety - I guess it's all to do with peri.
