Hi guys,if you have read my posts you know I am on Yasmin, just starting the second month.Well this week would have been the week of my period before the pills-I was going every 24-25 days.I have had two horrible days, and am wondering if this because of my cycle.I have had some slight spotting, two minor panic attacks,I ache all over,my breasts are sore,I had a headache, and I am waking every hour with a racing heart.I also have the tingling in my fingers on my right hand.I am really scared.I know my dr tested my heart,thyroid,bp,etc-but what if she missed something, what if I am dying?I feel like I am losing it here.Just as I was strating to feel better. What if this is not peri but some disease??LORD,ami I going nuts ??I need all the prayers and support I can get.My little girl had a hearing test at school and they said she may have fluid behind her eardrums, and it is causing some hearing probs-well she has had allergies, stuffy nose the past two months,I think that is the cause, but I feel unable to cope and am worrying about her now.She has an appt with our dr tomorrow. She has never had hearing trouble before.Guys am I crazy??Is this my cycle causing this,or should I tell the dr while I am there tomorrow. What if it never goes away?Send me prayers and support please.GOD bless, please, please pray for my daughters hearing. Thanks

The BCPs might be making you feel this way. Consider stopping them and seeking alternative treatment, whether other BCPs or bioidenticals. I remember when I started taking BCPs years ago they made me feel like absolutel crap and I stopped after just a few months.
It looks like Yasmin has 30mcg of ethinyl estradiol. There are other BCPs that have 20mcg, maybe you could switch ?

I don't mean to make light of your issue, but I have to say it ... I always feel funny discussing hormones with an eagle. :-) (Referring to your picture. I need a picture !)

If I were you, I'd start by doing a search here of my own posts, and print the whole lot out, then give them to your doctor, warts and all. Add anything you may have missed out. He needs all the information, including the stuff thats really embarrassing or may seem silly, like an increase in allergies. If you haven't seen a gyno, ask.

Sandra, sorry about the bird, but I don't have a recent picture, and its a falcon.I have a really nice woman dr,who listens,I just don't know how to put it,do I just say hey this is not working,I am scared all the time-switch my pills? What if she say-well lets wait for the three months to be over and see how you feel then?I mean tomorrow is my daughters appt,I was just going to ask her at the end after she checks my little girls ears.

You're probably right, the doc will ask you to stick it out for some additional time. Just be firm, tell her that you can't wait any longer, that you are considering stopping the pills altogether. Ask her what she recommends based on your symptoms, lower or higher E or P ?

I just looked at some old transcripts on the ask an expert site,it recommended Loestrin 1/20.It seems to have lower risks and is supposed to be great for peri, any thoughts?

I think that is becoming a standard treatment for peri, the Loestrin 1/20. That's what my doc prescribed for me. (I never took it though.) I think the progestin in it. norethindrone acetate, is one of the least problematic.
If you are not needing the birth control capability of birth control pills (if you are, Loestrin 1/20 might not do the trick), maybe you should consider switching to bioidenticals.
Have you already looked through the "Ask the Expert" section of Power-Surge ? Maybe you'll find something in there that matches your situation ? Here are the archives for Pete Hueseman and Philip Warner.

many doctors are now recommending 2 newer BCP's for peri....Yaz ( a low dose version of Yasmin)
and Lo Estrin 24. Ask your doctor about these. I am on my second month of Yaz, and feel great...

Lady E, I can't remember how you feel about bioidenticals, but it just occurred to me if the trial and error aspect of bioidenticals was turning you off, you might end up doing the same thing with BCPs. I think if you take BCPs your doctor will eventually want you to come off of them, and then you have a choice: nothing, synthetic HRT, or bioidentical HRT. If you start bioidentical now you might only need to adjust dosages as you proceed. That's how I'm looking at it ... I was given BCPs to manage my peri, I bypassed them not only because I don't like the action of BCPs on the body's hormone production, I am quite sure I will be using HRT when I am menopausal so why not just do bioidentiacl now and later. I'm hoping the wisdom I gain now using bioidenticals will be very useful to me as I continue my transition from menstruating to menopausal.

Sandra, thank you for all of the info and response-I hate to say this, but I think I am freaking out.Too little sleep is making me feel awful,I have thought about bios, but the bcp seem a better option right now.If these problems continue I am going to ask for Yaz or loestrin.I just wonder how much stress and not sleeping can effect my health?Any ideas.

I am so sorry for the freak out yesterday.I guess we all have our moments. My little girl has a double ear infection, but we caught it quick, she will be on antibiotics for about 10 days, plus zyrtec for allergies.I talked to my dr at the end of the appt, she agrees with me that the lost sleep/insomnia is making everything worse, she wanted me to try rozeram, but when I got to the pharmacy it cost 86.00,my little girls meds were 90.00,so I didn't get the rozeram.I decided to start melatonin and give it at least two weeks to work.LORD willing,it will help.I can see more clearly today, its like I know I am making more of things than I should,Maybe GOD has given me the wisdom to see things more clearly. If in May the Yasmin do not seem to be helping,I may just stop the bcp all together,I can't see trying a million brands, and going through the side effects with each one,but that will wait till my next appt.I told the dr about my legs-she said it was the tendons, and to stretch more before I walk. Thanks for the advice and support, and thanks for letting me vent all my unreasonable thoughts.GODbless.

Hi...I'm new on the board...It sounds to me like your symptoms may indicate homone imbalance in the estrogen direction (i.e sore breasts etc). Anxiety is also a common symptom of low progesterone.
I am not familiar with Yasmin, but maybe coming off (if you can), waiting, and then doing a saliva test (you can get them over the internet) might be the way to go. The saliva test would tell you whether your hormone levels and then you would know what is imbalanced.

After getting some much needed sleep, and realizing I was worrying too much I feel better.I am going to try to stay on the Yasmin at least until my appt in May.I can't afford to just switch back and forth. If I am still having these problems then I will switch.

Hi. Wow! Rozerem is pricey!
I wonder if oxazepam or tradozone would be suitable. They're older meds, come in a variety of strengths, and are relatively cheap. I'm on Traz, 50 mg. I just saw an overseas pharma selling them at $16-$17 for 90 tablets at 100 mg. You could cut those in half. The os pharmas have delivery and shipping fees but with an RX they're probably available at home for a low price.

Well,i decided to just try and get along with as much sleep as I can,and quit worrying-thats all I was doing was constantly worrying, which did not help.I hope I can get by without another prescription.

Hi LadyE,
You are right...worry will kill us quicker than menopause!!! Lack of sleep and worry is the root cause for most diseases anyone has...I'm confident of this!
I think you are making a right decision....changing meds or nutritional supplements too quickly will not allow you to clearly see if anything is going to work or make things better. I've found that a cup of chamomille tea at bedtime works wonders! Lay your head down after reading some scriptures and rest!!! Amazing rest!!!
