Hi all

Long time, no here..... since I was doing pretty well on my bios. My periods have been normal as clockwork. I was taking one capsule, once a day, that included estradiol, progesterone and DHEA. It was easy. Life was pretty good... but in November I started sliding into the depression pit again. We redid all my labs and doc switched my Rx for bios and added more thyroid meds.

Since end of December I have been taking estradiol and testosterone separately in sublingual liquid drop form. I have been taking progesterone in capsule form.

My January period never came... I finally got a period starting Feb 26 and it is stilllllllll going now, March 7.. blink.gif I am going through a tampon every 45-60 minutes....three days so far mad.gif lots and lots of clots (almost like an early miscarriage). No pain, no cramps...

Not sure what to make of it.

Any advice?

Ruby Rose- this happened to me late last year. I skipped my period one month while on the bios then the next month came the FLOOD with lots of clots. It lasted for 10 days and was scary. I finally called my doctor and she upped my Estradiol to 2mg. 2X a day & 200 mg. Prometrium to stop the bleeding. Once it stopped I went back to 1mg E 2X a day and 100 mg. P.
The next month I had a normal period and they've been fairly normal since. A bit of breakthough mid-cycle but just a few spots. If you start feeling super run down & your joints begin aching you might want to take some iron supplements to ward off anemia. If you have a problem with constipation from regular iron there are other products on the market. I use one one called 'slow iron' that isn't quite as harsh. If your worried about the heavy bleeding/clots call your doctor and have them adjust the bios, from my past experience the heavy bleeding/clots are a pain but it's normal after missing a period to shed that lining that's built up. Good luck.

I finally called the doctor, since the bleeding is so heavy and I am flooding pretty bad. I was hoping she would just adjust the HRT Rx... but she wants to see me?!?! mad.gif

Let's see..... regular periods for years and years...... she substantially changes my Rx and now I am having trouble.... but she thinks it may be something else (yeah, another $150 in her pocket blink.gif )

It angers me.

Hi Ladies. I just started cycling Prometrium 3 months ago. Didn't have a period last month but about a week ago the FLOOD started here too ohmy.gif and I'm on the 2 weeks I'm suppose to take them. This is all so frustrating!!

RubyRose good luck at the Dr's and let us know how things go!

Just got back from the doc.

Note: I have not been cycling bios, I take the same things each day of the month (very simple tongue.gif )

She said she thinks it is EITHER from the change of the bios Rx and the higher estrogen dosage OR I did not ovulate last month and it caused me not to have a period. Seems to me it is the first reason.

She told me to STOP the estrogen and progesterone for one full week. She said it will give my body a "shake" and will allow all to slough off. Then start back exactly as I had been dosage-wise in one week.

She said if the bleeding doesn't stop in a few days, to start the progesterone immediately and double the dose.

If I don't have a regular period next month, she said we will have to talk about cycling.

Curiously, I had emailed Pete this morning and he said to stop the progesterone for 4-5 days .... but did not say to stop the estrogen.

How did this turn out for you? I've in meno, but starting spotting yesterday (very lite). Last time that happened, my doc (very knowledgeable about hormones) said the Estradiol was too high and to lower it and increase the Progesterone. That made me horribly depressed and didn't stop the bleeding. This time, I asked the compounding pharmacy and HE said spotting is generally a sign of too high Progesterone. So two different answers... appears Pete agrees with my pharmacy.
