Hi..I need some feedback...anybody using pregnenolone. It was recommended for boosting my adrenal function and they said it would make any other hormone that I may be needing. I believe it's the first hormone made from cholesterol.

Any input would be great...I haven't researched it yet.

I take pregnenolone 50 mg/day. I first started taking it with a small amount of DHEA before I started my estrogen and it helped some of my depression and anxiety. I had to start estrogen before all of my depression/anxiety went away. Some people have reported that it converts to other hormones; I do not think that is true for me. Even though I take the pregnenolone I still think I have some adrenal fatigue and I am taking an adrenal glandular for that which I believe is helping. Dr. Reiss talks about pregnenolone in his book and that is why I started it. Maybe my adrenal fatigue would have been worse without the pregnenolone—I do not know.

I'm taking it to wake up my sex hormones to regulate my periods, so far so good (although I do have Hashimoto's disease which was the main reason for my cycles stopping) I was taking 30mg a day since late January, but i'm stopping it for the rest of the week then i'll start next week but every mon, wed, & fri. I read where you should take hormone breaks once in a while. I believe my cycles would have resumed in due time now that i'm on the proper thyroid medicine but i was impatient rolleyes.gif Progesterone would have speeded it up quicker however I can't take it due to history of blood clots
