For those of you taking Premarin and/or Prempro, you would be very wise to read the details of this case if you can find them so you can decide whether or not these drugs are just too risky to take. This was a second trial, btw. The first jury also found against Wyeth, but the verdict was tossed because of juror misconduct. The plaintiff must have had a very strong case to convince two juries that Prempro caused her breast cancer. And based on WHI study results, it IS going to cause some number of cases. It might be a small number, but it won't feel small if you are one of the unlucky ones.

Another case, in Texas (Brockert v. Wyeth), was dismissed by a judge. The judge didn't even allow the case to go to trial and allow a jury to decide. He said that the printed warnings were sufficient. Nice, eh ?

Whoops, the judge in the Texas case is a she, not a he.

Here's a good web page that describes various Prempro lawsuits:

(Power Surge admins, I hope this meets your standards.)

Btw, the "black box" warning that is found on the patient info for Premarin and Prempro did not exist prior to 2003. That was added after the WHI study was terminated. So I wonder what warnings existed on the pre-2003 patient info ? Does anyone have a copy of that ? Is there any mention of increased risk of breast cancer anywhere on the info ?

I used the premarin creme starting about this time last year, and that was the first of anything I used. Perhaps if you searched this website, you might find old posts from that period, of still-winning-with-us posters who might have kept the product info sheets. Problem is, of course, when we feel better, we tend to move on.
