hi all,

I posted this on another forum, but I think this was the correct forum to post it on .... so here goes:

on Friday night, I was looking in the mirror in my bathroom, inspecting a stupid pimple that had popped up on my nose, which it alwasy does when I get my period, and yes, it was period time (it's over as of today). I happened to see a dark blue vein on the left temple, and I hadn't seen that there before. NOw, since I've been popping up with varicose veins since January, I panicked and thought that it had now progessed to my head!..lol..I know that may sound stupid, but that's what I thought.

Ok, well, so I began to "inspect" my left temple. Now, I didn't push or press HARD there, because I know that that can cause headaches and such, so I just sort of pressed LIGHTLY, on and off, around that left temple area, but I did that for hours....not
consecutivley, but on and off during the night, trying to feel if it was beginning to pop out or not (as if it were becoming a varicose vein or not). Again let me stress, I wasn't pressing HARD at all, very lightly, and not really even PRESSING, just sort of running my finger back and forth over that area VERY LIGHTLY to see if I could feel if it was beginning to bulge...and it wasn't. There was, however, another smaller little vein thing close to it, that was slightly popped out a little, and still is.

Well, that was friday night, and I eventually convinced myself it was prob. nothing, and went to bed. GUESS AGAIN!
On Sat. when I woke up, it was really throbbing, lots of pressure in this one little area on my left temple. So, I natrually thought, ok, that was from all the LIGHT touching the night before...something to be expected. BUT, the pressure never left, and it's MAINLY on one spot on the left temple, and the pressure changes, sometimes it's worse, othertimes it's a little better. It feels very "tight" there, and as if the veins on the left temple, are pressurized, like they're going to burst! This makes me so darn nervous. So, I had to remind myself, I WAS FINE ON FRIDAY BEFORE I STARTED TO TOUCH IT! This must be from all the touching, but then again, I did it so LIGHTLY, yes for a few hours, but again...on and off. Yesterday, on Sat., it was still pressurized right there, and I felt nausea!....today, the same! Now, wouldn't that be gone by now? That's why I get all nervous, becasue I start imagining all these crazy things, like a tumor, or blood clot....lol....you know the story.

I hope someone here can help me with this.....I've touched my temple before, and pressed lightly on it before, for whatever reason,,,,and it's never acted like this! Sure, it's started to throb a little, or maybe a little pressure,....and maybe for a short time....but this is now working on Monday morning here, and it's still like that, and the nausea, oh man! Most of my friends seem to think it's nothing, just "stuff", hormonal, whatever......and I know our hormones at this stage of the game play mean tricks on us....but this? I have been taking tylenol extra strenght, which SORT OF helped, but the pressure is still there, right smak dab in the center of the left temple.......it goes over a little to my left eyebrow too, which made me wonder if it wasn't sinus because I've had that all my life. Or even TMJ, becaue I do grind my teeth......BUT I WAS ABSOLUTLEY FINE (well, as fine as we can hope to be at this point in time), BEFORE I STARTED TOUCHING IT ON FRIDAY NIGHT.....I've been told it might be a migrane too, but would that start up from touching your temple, LIGHTLY.? and how long would that last? Its' not so much of a headache, as pressure on the temple....and left eyebrow....

if anyone here can help me, i would appreciate it very much....thank you girls....MyDarling

I can think of one thing you could try,if you can take an antihistimine, like benedryl, before bedtime,or a decongestant if you have one.If it is sinus pressure one of those might help.I get naseus with sinus problems because I get that post nasal drip down the back of my throat at night, then when I wake up Bam I feel like I m gonna barf.Hope that helps.

Hi,

yeah, I tried that idea, i took benedryl last night, and at first it helped, it took the sinus part of this away, but then, when i took the second dose, 6 hr.s later, I seemed to have a bad reaction for some reason, not good. I felt so spacey, and all I could do was stare, and I noticed another thing, I seemed to have developed sort of like a sore spot on the back left side of my head, maybe about an inch up from where your hair begins. When I got up today, I noticed it. That scared me too, because naturally, I'm thinking BRAIN TUMOR! Well, it WAS tender, and even when I didn't touch it, it would still ache or I'd just get a sudden pain there.
It is pretty much gone now, although i can still feel where it was, it's not as sore and tender, but if I keep touching it, it starts to feel a little tender again, and then, once THAT HAPPENS, then I can feel it sort of throb a tiny bit and then I want to touch it again! UGH!
Does any of this sound familiar to anyone? LadyE, I know you said you had some tender points on your head, maybe that's what I'm describing here too, does it sound the same? How did you get yours? I THINK I got mine from sleeping with the back of my neck on a hard pillow, but this sore spot is somewhat up on the back of the head more..not down on the neck. Does your tender spot ache a lttle, is it tender to the touch?

OK, thank you for replying kiddo! Sincerely, MyDarling

Hi there, I can recall getting a nasty headache with nausea from being massaged in that temple area by a hairdresser! I'm sure there are lots of pressure points in the temples which can flare up quite easily. I've recently been getting a weird kind of pressure/bulging sensation, which comes and goes, in both temples. Maybe sinus. I would also add that if you have tight muscles in your neck and shoulders it can set off a chain reaction and cause funny aches and pains in the head. If you leave it alone for a few days it will probably calm down. Jess x

This may not be related to what you are feeling but it bothers me, nonetheless. I get a spasm in my left temple. It's a muscle spasm and it's like that flutter muscle spasm you get in your eyelids once in awhile? Only it's in my temple. And it can go off and on for most of the day. Drives me nuts. I have a history of migraine and tension headaches and maybe it's due to fluctuating hormones. I don't have it everyday but when it happens it makes me stop what I'm doing and I freak out about it a bit since it's scary and very uncomfortable.

I've never noticed any swelling but I do get a lot of pressure headaches where my head just feels like someone's pressing it all over. I wonder if bloating and water retension make this symptom appear? I'm retaining water right now......hmmmmmm (says to self: this is something to make note of).

But yeah, the temple spasms are worrisome to me and then they go away. I've had so many weird and strange symptoms since entering menopause my doctor is sure to retire soon out of frustration. rolleyes.gif

Hope you feel better,

hi ladies....

well, the temple pressure seems to have stopped for NOW....i haven't had it now for about 12 days, and very little squeezing as well, thank God. Sue, I know what you mean about freaking out, you're talking to the queen of freaking out here...lol...yeah, it did freak me out a lot, because the pressure was constant. But, after 6 weeks of this nonsense, it seems to have stopped, I still feel it once and a while, but for the most part, it's not there right now............

i think what you described is prob. a muscle spasm, like you said. That's not as bad though, because yours seems to come and go a lot more....mine was constant. But, hopefully, this too, shall pass!

sincerely, mydarling
