I got my lab results (routine) today and was very surprised indeed. My numbers were:
Total cholesterol 184
LDL 99
HDL 66
Triglycerides 96
All perfect, according to my physician.
But here's the problem: due to living in a miserable situation for the last 4 months, I began eating daily junk food (like the aforementioned Carl's Jr. milkshakes) as comfort food. Normally, my cholesterol levels are 220, and LDL and triglycerides higher than these new levels (though HDL is always 66, which is good).
At first I thought they got the lab tests mixed up. But then I saw that the iron count was low, which it always is, and the TSH a little too high, as usual.
Other than my daily dose of very high fat junk food, I eat very well. But I thought menopause was supposed to make lipid levels worse, not better (I'm nearly done with meno--only a couple of periods over the last year).
Everything is always wacky with me.
