Hi everyone,I am 30-will be 31 in April, for the past year I have developed all of these disturbing symptoms-the panic attacks out of no where was one of the worst.I recently went to the doctor, after my hormone tests came back"normal she said PCOS,without an ultra sound of my ovaries, well,I know it is perimenopause,I have all the symptoms. She prescribed Yasmin BCP,they are helping,I have been on them two weeks now,she says it will take up to three months for the full effect.I am better, but still having horrible fatigue, waking up repeatedly all through the night and bouts of depression(never been like this before).I feel like my life is someone elses,I am glad to be getting better, but wish it would happen faster!haha-can't always get what we want huh?I would really appreciate any responses-none of my friends understand,also-has anyone had blurry vision as a symptom?I get really dry eyes and need to wear reding glasses all of a sudden. Thanks in advance. unsure.gif

What other symptoms are youi suffering ? Any hot flashes yet ? Irregular periods ?

BCP's are a quick and standard way to "fix" the problem. But are they really a fix ? They are not chemically identical to your body's hormones. I highly recommend that you read about bioidentical hormones, they are not just for menopausal or perimenopausal women, they can be used to sort out menstrual problems in younger women too. I recommend books by John R Lee and Uzzi Reiss. Also, get your hormones tested again, one test doesn't say much. For example, I have been having hot flashes, a clear sign of low estrogen, and yet when I had a blood test my estrogen showed up on the high end of normal. I know it's fluctuating greatly and we happened to nab it when it was high. The other results to appear normal, I look like I'm not even in peri, but I clearly am with missed periods and iirregular periods and hot flashes ... and I'm 46. :-)

This forum is FULL of great info (and people) ! I hope you have time to read through many of the threads. I suggest paying particular attention to the threads about BHRT and progesterone.

I have had hot flashes cold flashes, panic attacks(never had them before)fatigue, shorter cycle 28 days to 25,then 24 then 26,much lighter bleed ,basically all the symptoms-I like the Yasmin,I don't have health insurance,so I can't really keep going back for tests, and I heard the bio identicals were expensive?

Hi, and welcome ..... ok, when I read the words"ALL OF A SUDDEN", THAT'S ME TOO! I'm 49 though, but I have come to realize that when all the symptoms you're describing hit ALL OF A SUDDEN, it's prob. hormonal. Lots of women start this journey early.
I to have restless sleep, depression, anxiety, and a load of other symptoms that COME OUT OF NOWHERE, ALL OF A SUDDEN, which seems to be the ear mark of peri! You have found an absolutley terriffic site here! The women here are intelligent, funny, and wise .... so do yourself a favor, and stay onboard, it'll make it a lot easier for you! If you read a lot of the old posts, and articles, you can really educate yourself, so that when you do see your GYN , you'll have confidence that you know what you're talking about, because a lot of them, know less than you (about peri)!

Again, welcome to power surge! MyDarling

Hi! I'm new here, too. I found out about Power Surge a week ago when I was at the end of my rope! For me, most of these things just happened within the past few weeks. I had convinced myself that I must be pregnant even though I had periods and four negative pregnancy tests and I now know that it was the anxiety/panic (along with bloating and sore breasts) I was feeling at the time. Now that I'm beginning to learn a little about perimenopause, I realize that I had subtle symptoms beginning a couple of years ago (I'm now 38). It began with the hotflashes (I didn't even know what they were until last week!) but I always got them in the morning. It sounds crazy but I'd be getting ready for work in the morning and I'd have to strip down to my undies and lie on the cold tile floor of my bathroom. A few minutes later, I was freezing! It didn't happen often, but often enough to annoy me. Last year, I began bleeding every two weeks. I had no cramps or other PMS symptoms, but I just kept bleeding! When I went to my gyno, he just gave me some hormone pills to stop the bleeding and it hasn't happened since. For the last six months or so, I've had terrible pms. It began with terrible pelvic pain during ovulation. It was fine for a few days afterward and then I'd get the cramps back again a few days before my period (I'd never had cramping before). This month was very different, though. I've never had problems with anxiety or mood swings before but it has hit me so hard this month. I have worried about the smallest things, sometimes to the point of feeling breathless. My moodswings have been horrible...one minute I'm as sweet as candy and the next I'm lashing out (this is horrible considering the fact that I'm a teacher.) My students have made comments about my short temper lately and it makes me feel so awful. I was also more bloated than I've ever been in my life and my breasts were swollen and felt like someone used them as punching bags (also a new experience for me). The funny thing is that it all ended two days ago when my period began. I knew the exact second it began because the bloating went away and my breasts felt fine. My patience is back and my mood has been wonderful. Oh, my last 3 periods have only been 3 weeks apart...since the pain begins just before ovulation, the only time I feel great is when I'm actually on my period and a few days afterward. Sometimes being a woman is just no fun!

Believe me, I know exactly what you mean when you say that you feel like it hit you suddenly!

I couldn't get an appt. with my gyno until March 5 so I'm looking forward to talking all of this over with him. I'm not sure what the outcome will be, though, because he tested my hormones and thyroid last year and said they were fine. I only hope that he'll figure out something because I can't handle another month like this one (and I'm sure my students will agree whole heartedly!)

You've come to the right place.....everyone here is so helpful and supportive. Look around, there are many wise women to help.

Take care!
Karen

Thanks so much for the kind replies-I have a loving husband and three wonderful kids,I just feel so alone.I trust GOD with my life-I just want to feellike me again.I woke up soo tearful this morning.I still feel sad-and there is no logical reason.I look back and can connect the dots with my symptoms-I can see they started about a year ago-but when they got bad it was like an avalanche coming down with no warning right before my period.I am so glad the BCP are helping, the anxiety is a lot lower, hot flashes are going away,I just wish the mood swings and insomnia would hit the road as fast.I have to keep doing all the things I normally do-but with half the energy and will.GOD bless all you ladies-I truly hope we all make it through. Please drop me a reply-it helps soo much knowing I have friends and support. sad.gif
