Full Version: Enjuvia -- anyone using this?

Hi, Just came back from gyno.

I'm switching from climara patch to enjuvia oral.

Patch worked, but i hated having it on my behind all the time. gyno said other patients do, too.

So, I got a sample of enjuvia 1.25 and an rx for enjuvia .625. (1.25 were all she had in samples).

I have to take it and use the patch for a week, then stop the patch and keep going with the enjuvia.

first month will be 1.25, since that's what I have in the sample bottle. Then it becomes the .625.

I went to askapatient DOT com but they didn't have enjuvia listed. is it very new?

I did well at gyno: blood pressure is perfect. My breasts and pelvis are "very boring".

[My BP used to be nutty. this time last year (when i didn't know I was in peri, just feeling weird) it was 165/80 at doc's office. Now it was 120/77 at gyno's. Of course, in the meantime I stopped alcohol and started doing yoga pretty intensely and doing yogic breathing. I weigh 120 (at 5'5 and a half" -- thank goodness that's been my height for years. Whew.)]

If anyone's using/used enjuvia, please let me know how it goes/went. thanks a lot.

I don't use it, but I would not likely use anything other than bioidentical. I can't see using anything synthetic unless totally necessary. And I would definitely never use a progestin (I know that is not the subject here), because it has been associated with so many health problems, some deadly. Just my opinion, and I'm sure other women would disagree.

I'm using a little Estrogel right now--slide drop over the arm and let dry--very easy.

Nev: Glad you found a doc with a sense of humour. It didn't used to matter to me too much, but this past year has been painful, and a little mood lightening can do a power of good.

Barr Pharmaceuticals Inc. (NYSE: BRL) today (December, 2004) announced that its subsidiary, Duramed Pharmaceuticals, Inc., has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval for its New Drug Application (NDA) for Enjuvia™ (synthetic conjugated estrogens, cool.gif 0.3 mg and 0.45 mg tablets. The Company's NDA for Enjuvia (synthetic conjugated estrogens, cool.gif 0.625 mg and 1.25 mg tablets received FDA approval in May 2004.

The Company's Enjuvia product line includes the lowest dose, plant- derived, synthetic conjugated estrogen product approved for the treatment of vasomotor symptoms. Enjuvia tablets contain a blend of ten synthetic estrogenic substances, including the component delta 8,9-dehydroestrone sulfate. The patent on Enjuvia expires in 2020.

DesRothchild - Note, the article says its synthesized, but from plants as opposed to derived from horse urine. BTW, I'm not bothered about the urine aspect, its the concern for the comfort - or dis- of the mare that disturbs me.

Synthetic is synthetic, regardless of being from a plant source. It is chemically distorted.

Again, not being argumentative, just my opinion.

I'm not sure what source you would consider acceptable. Can you help clarify this for me, please?

Duch, oh my, that avatar!

Thanks for finding the enjuvia info. In some place I found that it was "slow release". I was heartened by this, but then didn't find the term anywhere else. Must have been "one of those things".

Re: premarin, I was horrified when I was Rx-ed it. But I was a complete innocent as to what else was out there and I needed to start taking something. I only took it a week and prayed for the horses. Such a terrible thing for those mares -- what's wrong with soy-based? It's so much more aesthetically pleasing all around.

A hormone should be bioidentical, as in the molecular structure of whatever hormone is identical to that contained in the human body. Synthetics are metabolized differently.

For example, Provera, a progestin, is not chemically the same as progesterone, and as such, causes heart problems, cancer, etc.

Being made from "plants" is great (many drugs are), but the chemical alteration will make it a drug, not a true hormone natural to the human body.

I guess I'm not understanding your confusion/question. Possibly you could search it out on the internet.

Sandra --- I'm bothered by the whole freakin' thing, especially my body turning against me.

We're just living too long. :-) If it weren't for good health care and nutrition, our sputtering ovaries would have indicated impending death. >:-)

When I read that gorillas are now living long enough to experience menopause, I felt soooo bad. Poor things suffering hot flashes and palpitations and other symptoms, can't talk to each other (except for Koko and a few others), can't tell their handlers how they feel, can't log on to Power Surge, probably won't get any symptom-relieving HRT ....

Poor things. And how about other animals that are spayed? I really don't know what happens there. Fortunately, my female cats were all OK. They were smart and loving. Hopefully, it's different for them.

Why's this world s*ck so much? :-(

Hey, a propos of what you said, Sandra, isn't it great that medical science has us living so long? Geeze.
SandraSmith
Oh no !!! I hadn't even thought about spaying ... the vets remove the uterus and ovaries !!! How come they don't just do a tubal ligation ???? Poor animals !!!

And look what they do to male animals ... castration. There goes the testosterone. I'm not aware of hot flashes, palpitations, or other horribly uncomfortable symptoms suffered when an animal endures castration, but you'd think there too they could just do a vasectomy. But then castration isn't so much about reproduction, it's about agressive behavior, and vasectomy wouldn't "help" there.

Yes, the world does indeed s*ck. The way we treat animals is atrocious. I'm so glad to know that millions of animals are blinded so that we may have dark eyelashes.
