Hi
I'm in the UK, so you'll have to excuse the term "flushes" it's what we call your "flashes".

I have noticed that lots of posts are about people experiencing flashes/flushes at certain points during their cycle., many years away from what must be a final period.

Well, my cycles are irregular now- have been for about 6 months- and I am a few weeks away from 52.

My mother never had a hot flush until her periods stopped for good, at 52-ish. Is there anyone here who hasn't had flushes as part of peri- and only once past menopause? I'm just kind of trying to work out when mine will start!

I started flashing about 3 years before my periods ended, and can remember the day the first one came - I was at a street festival, and noticed the "heat-wash" sensation coming up and sweeping over my face. As my periods got further apart, the hot flashes got worse, to the nuisance-y, sweater-on, sweater-off stage.

Now, over a year post, I rarely get hot flashes.

That's my experience. We're all a little different! wink.gif
