I literally have a fever of 99.5 during a hot flash. When I cool down after 30 minutes, it's back to a normal 98.6. Does anybody else run a fever during a hot flash?I feel embarrassed asking my gyn or GP because I'm afraid they'll think I'm nuts.

That seems consistent with what I have read, that the body temp can rise just before the hot flash sets in. One article I read said core temp can rise .99 degrees C (which is 1.782 degrees F).

I read on some sites there there is NO core body temp increase. That appears to be flat-out wrong. For some women, for some or all of their hot flashes, there IS a core body temp increase.

I have had definite surface increase in temp during hot flashes (Honey will attest to that), but I have used an under-the-tongue thermometer, and registered no change.
And my flashes will last up to 20 minutes!

Hello!

I just came on PS to find out if anyone else has an elevated temp during a hot flash, like I am suspecting that I do, and thankfully I found a couple of ladies with the same problem! This original topic was posted a few months back, so I'm hoping someone else will respond to this question.

I recently had surgery for breast cancer and developed an infection in my breast, had a slight fever from that, but the infection is gone now and I still have the elevated temp (around 99.1-99.6) when I feel these hot flashes. When I finish sweating and cool off, my temp goes back down to normal. I was on Vivelle Dot patch, which was working beautifully, but stopped it after the BC dx, so my life isn't very cheery at the moment, and one less worry about the temp rise would be very welcomed!!

Thanks!

Yep, mine definately raises! I had a hot flash in the Dr. office once...when I first got there temp was normal. By the time they took my BP, I was feeling the hot flash (power surge) coming on and my BP, which is normally very low, shot up to 144/88. (normally about 110/64). The nurse said I looked red and felt hot so she took my temp again and it was 100.1! The flash passes and they retook everything....BP was normal again and temp. was 98.4! I'd say we caught it in the act! LOL!
