I have a suspicious area found on an ultrasound and need an ultrasound guided needle biopsy. Can anyone give me any feedback regarding this procedure and is it painful ? Cat-e

It is not fun. It is just something completely different. You will be given a local anasthesia in the breast and the needle will be inserted. Although you can't feel the sensation in your breast or the needle, you can feel it being tuged and pulled for the tissue sample. Not painful, just wierd. After I was tightly wrapped and bandaged (do not expect to drive yourself home, although I did). Was uncomfortable the first night. They gave me pain med after the procedure and some for at home that I never even took. The scar is minimal. Very tiny. And the peace of mind it brings is HUGE! Good luck to you, I am sure you will be fine. At our age when Fibroadenomas set back in, there are always breast changes to be found on us!
Yikes!

Hi, I have Ultrasound needle aspirations 3 times now because of liquid filled cysts in my breasts. Believe me I was so scared the first time, but honestly, it was PAINLESS! The doctor gives novacain and then you don't feel a thing. I watch the monitor and see the cyst disapear instantly. It's pretty cool to watch. Afterwards, a bandaid and a little soarness for a day. That's it!
Good luck, don't worry!
