well, TODAY (oh, and we really can't forget yesterday too), I started in with this weird nauseas feeling, queasy, almost all the time. It feels as though I DO feel hungry, but I don't feel like eating! I feel like I get full very easily all of a sudden, and then, when I FORCE myself to eat (even a little) I feel queasy and nauseas. I can keep it down, I haven't thrown up, but sometiems it's a struggle. Most of the time, it's just a feeling of nausea. I used to be able to drink SlimFast a few times a day, it's something I like, and it keeps me away from other fatty foods....BUT NOW, ALL OF A SUDDEN, it would seem that when I take a few sips of it, i get this pain/ache, burning sensation in my stomach, and then I can almost feel it going down through my intestines, and it burns slightly as it goes down...this is weird. Now, you see, then I get panicky, and think I must have stomach cancer! GEEZ!
I only hope this is all part of peri, and hormones .... so, does anyone else have this?

A friend of mine said she thought it sounded like gastritis, she had it a numberof years ago, and the symptoms were exactly the same: bloated, feeling of being full after you've eatn just a little, feeling hunger, yet you don't feel like eating ..... and that burning, ache/pain in the stomach/gut .... so maybe that's all it is...I HOPE! I wish I weren't so FEARFUL, geez, I know I didn't usedto be!

thanks ladies......mydarling

Hey mydarling,

I've had off-and-on phases of nausea for the past 10 years. They have become "old hat." dry.gif

Usually my bouts last around a week, and it's very difficult to eat, or to even drink water. I lose about 5-7 pounds each time. Don't have the burning, but do have a lot of discomfort with bloating and cramping.

Then, one day, it just turns around and I feel better. SO STRANGE.

Could it be that you have some kind of a stomach bug? My hub is going through something like what you're describing, and he's NOT menopausal. tongue.gif

Hi,

thank you for replying so quickly! well, I don't feel like I have a flu or virus. No, this just started yesterday, OUT OF NOWHERE, again, like everything else. It feels like anohter peri "symptom", that it does. Now, like I had stated, a friend of mine had had gastrities years ago, and she said it sounded just like that, well, I can at least deal with that. I googled that, and it seems like a pain in the rear, but you can deal with it. And I woldn't doubt it if I found out that peri, and hormone fluctuations MAKE THIS WORSE! (just like everything else) .... so, we'lll see.....But it was good to know that someone else has this nausea...hey, did this just come out of the blue for you too?

thanks ....my darling

Mydarling,

I have gastritis and it sounds very similar. I have sore places inside my stomach that when food goes down actually sting. Think of it like a mouth ulcer and what stings that!!! My tum also bloats out when it gets full of gas and is very painful. It can make you nauseous and decrease your appetite. It helps relieve the pain to burp.

Gastritis is an inflammation of your stomach lining. (An ulcer would be where the inflammation has gone deeper into the stomach). If you push your stomach in, an ulcer usually hurts, whereas gastritis doesn't. I had gastritis for 4 months a couple of years back, but I have learnt better ways to treat it now & the last bout that I've had since Xmas is clearing up more quickly.

I have found the following helps:

Modify your diet. Eat small bland meals (cut out stingy fruit except bananas for a few weeks and take vits instead). I find all fruit really stingy as well as tomatoey things. Avoid anything acidic & vinegary, all caffeine (incl choc), all alcohol. Eat low fat & low sugar foods. I lived off oatmeal (porridge), bananas, cottage cheese sandwiches, chicken, fish (unsmoked), rice, carrots, mushrooms & gravy for a week this time. Green vegetables & pulses don't particularly produce acid for me but can produce gas which hurts. I tried to get some greens by eating mashed frozen broccoli heads and frozen spinach which tend to be softer and easier to digest than the fresh. Very low fat white sauces and gravy seem to be fine, but not tomatoey sauces or spicy food. Avoid cheese - too high in fat.

Wear loose clothing
(wear it undone when you're on your own & possibly can - I find my bra digs in when my stomach is swollen and aggravates it) Losing weight helps too.

Antacid treatments: There are 3 levels - antacids, H2 acid blockers, and PPIs (omeprazole etc that stop the acid being formed in the first place) I can't take the PPIs because I am allergic. I have found the antacids and ranitidine (H2 blocker) useful in the past.

Drink lots of hot water to release painful gas caused by bloating. (This is what is making you feel full & nauseous)

Worrying increases stomach acid which makes it worse.

Smoking is a No-No

I also read low salt foods are best as salt thins the stomach lining, but i don't use a lot of salt myself.

Just recently I starting drinking aloe vera gel twice a day in stead of the antacid approach which has really helped. I use this along with the bland diet and loose clothing . My tum which flared up again at Xmas from chocs, pickles and 3 glasses alcohol is finally nearly better.

Hope this helps!

Just wanted to add that Yes I do believe it is peri linked. I developed anxiety and palps when this first happened. (Both are linked to the stomach). The anxiety has never gone away completely and the palps are back bigtime these days. I had none of these symptoms before 2 years ago. Even my doc is starting to agree it could all be hormonal. I am 42. I've also developed funny rashes, allergies, migraines & woolly brain the last few years. Hormones have to be the cause.

yes, yes, yes!
I too have that same weird stomach thing- It just started a couple of days ago- so maybe it's some weird kind if virus. I had trapped gas so bad, it woke me up from a sound sleep. Feeling hungry but not able to eat. I always chalk everyhitng up to peri- and then realize it's a bug going around. But I seem to get this once or twice in a year.
