Hi ladies,

I am new to this forum but am an avid reader. So many posts have helped me maintain my sanity and I thank all you sisters for sharing your experiences.

My doctors recently put me on YAZ BCP ( not for birthcontrol) to address a mild acne breakout. I have always had clear skin and of late I have started breaking out on my chin and jawline from the time I ovulate until my periods start. Anyways, I am always extremely cautious with medications because I am a posterchild for side-effects and in the past I have not had a very pleasant experience with BCP. I did tell my GP but he said that this is a new pill with very low levels of estrogen therefore little or no side-effects...Oh YES!!!!!

First it was feeling light headed, then nausea, NO SEX DRIVE!!!, and now since yesterday I am having this weird pain behind my left eye and over the eye-brow. It is NOT going away, i have tried Advil, Tylenol but no relief. I mentioned that pain to my GP and he syas that it cannot be because of the pill even though it is listed as one of the side-effects:-(

I have been on the pill for nearly 2 weeks and am not sure what to do..I can handle the nausea, but to give up whatever meagre libido I have left, coupled with this nagging headache is too much.

Have any of you any experience with yaz??? any suggestion....

Hi Wantaz4, and welcome to Power-Surge!

Sorry to see there haven't been any responses to your question. I have never taken Yaz, but believe that as with every other medication, there can be many side effects. Are you still having problems with it?

I'm also sensitive to meds, but have been pleased at times that some side effects go away after a week or so. With some meds, there's just no getting used to them!

Hope you're leveling out. Have you spoken to your doc again?

Some people have talked about Yaz on these boards - you might want to do a search of the site.

Take care,

JJ

Thank you so much for your response. I did search the forums but did not find a lot of data, probably because this is a newly approved BCP ( actually a lower dose version of Yasemin). I have decided to stop taking it from today because my headaches are not going away and I feel quite "emotionless" unsure.gif

I also feel very tired most of the time and have no energy. All I want is to sit in one place or Sleep. This is quite impossible considering that I work in a very high stress job and have 2 kids, ages 9 and 4!!!

I think I'd rather have Acne than go thru this.....

I found this in an article available on the 'net:

"We know that the birth control pill suppresses both ovulation and also the male hormones that the ovaries make in larger amounts during the middle third of the menstrual cycle. SHBG binds the testosterone, therefore, these pills decrease a woman's male hormone availability by two separate mechanisms. No wonder so many women have had symptoms."

Has anyone on BCPs jacked up their testosterone with creams or pills ?

wantaz4, maybe you could request to have your testosterone level checked, and if it's low request appropriate treatment.

I tried two different types of BCP for symptoms relief and I ended up having every side effect and more in the book...lthe doc says to hang in as the side effectrs will abate 2-3 months) eventually, and I did, but personally having been through that I would not advise anyone else to do the same,.

If they are indeed mild and within the normal range of side effects it is probably ok to stick it out,but if like me...with swollen skull pain so bad I could not sleep, depression, NO LIBIDO AT ALL, bad "plane" legs and a host of other problems...I would stop it and perhaps either try a different brand or forgo it altogether. As you can tell my experience was not good....

I have to admit that most of the symptoms have not been severe. However, the constant headache and depression is taking it's toll, plus it's causing a lot of stress with my husband. Today my daughter (4yr old) said..."mommy U don't look good..you look different" and I nearly snapped.....
