Full Version: I feel crummy EVERYDAY!

I don't know if this is normal for peri, but I feel totally crummy everyday. I feel queasy, nauseated, "shakey", almost everyday now. This started about 2 months ago, and I just can't seem to feel "good" or like "myself" anymore. EVER! Sure some days are ok, some days I may feel better, but MOSTLY, I feel like pure crap. I don't have much of an appetite anymore either, when I spoke to my dr. about it, he said it's basically hormone related, is this true? I keep getting these pains and aches in my abdomen, and today, it's on the left side of my belly button.
It doesn't feel like gas, it feels as though someone is continuously pressing against a sore spot next to my belly button, only, I don't have a sore spot there. This is on the inside. I feel as though everyday at this point, there's something new, and I've become a nervous wreck now, just waiting for the next symptom or problem!!!

I can relate to the lady with the vericose veins. I started with this too latley, for no reason. I've never had them
before in my life, and now I do. My dr. says it's "the change", I just need to know if anyone else out there feels this sickly, and crummy every darn day?! If this is all hormonal, then they can really wreck some serious havoc with us, and I'm having such anxiety just waiting for what's next. My dr. gave me Vistaril, it's ok but doesn't do to much for me. I had Xanax once, which was better. When I was pregnant with my second child, I developed vericose veins on my abdomen and breasts, which the doctor said was normal due to the weight AND hormonal changes, they went away after a few months after the birth of my daughter (that was 1980). But now they seem to be making another guest appearance on my abdomen again and only on one leg and the ones on the leg, ache! I just hope I'm not the only one out there with this stuff!!!!! The fear of what's coming next, will do you in!

Thank you.

There's a thread elsewhere in the forum regarding abdomen pain on one or the other side, sounds kind of like yours. I had that Thanksgiving weekend ! In Jan I missed a period. Not sure if the two things are related. IN that other thread there is some speculation that it's a bowel issue. I'm wondering if it might also be ovaries, though if the drawings I've seen are accurate, the ovaries would be a little low compared to where I felt the pain, was more waist level, and on my right side.

Before I had any truly identifiable signs of peri (hot flashes) I did experience intermittent days when I felt nauseated..

Glad you made it to the forum even though it sounds like you aren't experiencing the major symptoms yet. The knowledge will help you if/when they hit ! I wish I had found this place before the hot flashes set in, instead of after. :-)

Just to relieve a bit of your fear of the future, I had constant hot flashes and palpitations for 9 days. The hot flashes were uncomfortable but did not make me break out into a sweat. The palpitations were worse. Now I'm having them very intermittiently, not really bothering me so much. Every woman's peri and menopause are different, I have read and now see. Hopefully you will have few symptoms, and not severe.

Hi, and thank you for responding. I should have mentioned my heart palpatations as well, actually, I've had those for a few years now and the dr. insiststs there's nothing wrong with my heart! Sometimes it pounds hard, other times it feels like it actually comes to a stop, it's scarey. As far as hot flashes I do get them, but they're a little different than most women in that my entire body feels very hot, and that can last for a day or so, it's lovley. My doctor has reassured me it's hormonal, but I'm beginning to wonder if he's just brushing me off here, which is why I'm asking here. Even as I'm sitting here, I'm getting this sickening feeling in my abdomen, it's on the left side of the belly button, about an inch to the left (of belly button) , maybe a tiny bit more, but this almost feels like something in there is "burning', this is awful, it makes me feel nauseaus, what else is new? I have been drinking things like Slim Fast (it has vitamins and things) and a drink called E7 which I but at my local health food store. It's pretty good, but very expensive! It has lots of very important things in it, plus sea algae, which is very important for us! It comes in a large tub, it's in powder form, and you mix it with whatever. I like to mix it with Seltzer water, because it makes it fizzy, like a carbonated drink. It comes in Berry or Chocolate, I likethe Berry. But I will say, it's worth it, it makes me feel a lot better.

This feeling in my left gut is awful! (the "pain" I just described above). It comes and goes, it really just started about a half an hour ago. All I want to do at this point, is lay in a fetal position, blanket over me, and go to sleep, and just sleep and sleep, so I don't have to face what's next. I think this continuous "sick" feeling is the worst. I know I sound like I'm whining, but I just feel like I can't take it, and yet I know there's more to come! These pains scare me. I can remember back to my mother having all these crazy aches and pains during menopause, but this seems WORSE, probably because it's ME now. Is that normal to have these abdominal pains and burning sensatins in there?

Hi Angelbaby, I'm with you. I honestly can't remember what it was like to feel 'good'. It's a daily struggle with this mess. Headaches, stomach woes, body aches, fuzzy head, hot & cold, fatigue, mood swings. I sit here quite often and wonder if this is the way life is going to be from now on? Not a pleasant thought at all. I'm having my second period in less than a month ~ 9 days apart, to be exact, and I feel like I've been clubbed up side the head. Maybe this is the beginning of the end of the madness?!! I have to tell myself this won't last forever if for nothing more, just to get self encouragement. I'm sorry you're feeling so lousy. I completely understand.

I often experience the stomach discomfort you are describing. I think the hormones play a HUGE part in our digestion, and that's probably what is causing your troubles. If it gets worse have your doctor take a look at you. But probably this symptom like the others, will subside soon.
Hugs, Kleeo

Hi ladies,

Two years ago I won the lottery here in the UK, not a huge life changing amount but a nice tidy sum to be sure. What I remember was standing in the shop being told all about it and thinking to myself, that's nice but is it going to make me feel better than have been for the last three months! I had like you all felt generally crud for that time. Nothing really concrete, just the constant low level feeling of yukiness.

Well the good news is it does pass, it took another couple of months and then I got hit with anxiety big time but the general feeling off/generally unwell did pass. It still visits me periodically, like today I have a bit of nauseousness and light headedness but these do not seem to last like it did when all this started.

I did not realise at the time why I was feeling like pooh as whilst I was on HRT as my Doctor had tested my low hormones I had not found power surge and therefore had no idea what was going on like I do now.

Hopefully it will pass soon for you too, but yes it does seem our hrmones, fluctuating, being too low or just being there can cause us to feel so rank.

I also had the left side pain, terrible gas, diarrhea, hemmorhoids and saw some blood on the outside of the stool. This lasted on and off about 10 days and I felt crummy. I finally made an appointment at the doctor yesterday and all the symptoms are gone today. The appt. is today and I will go but I know it is meno related. This is the first month my period is late. When I started to feel better I could feel my whole body relax, all the tension and stress leave my body, and start to feel normal again. I have had the gas and diarrhea before but never this intense. I'm sure you will feel better soon. Isn't this fun!!!

Hi Angelbaby,

I do not think it is normal to have abdominal pain. It seems like your doctor is not helping you at all.

I found out recently that I have been gluten intolerant for 30 years. My abdominal pain and discomfort that I had forever was caused by gluten in foods. Many people have food sensitivities and do not realize it. Gluten for example is in almost everything; there is very little I can order at most restaurants because gluten seems to be in everything.

Have you considered that you are sensitive to something that you are eating every day? Many people have problems with gluten (in wheat, barley, rye, oats) and dairy. Gluten is in most processed foods including regular beer and soy sauce. If you tried an elimination diet for several weeks you may be able to figure out if something you are eating is causing your distress. There are lab tests that can be done but you can do an elimination diet without a doctor’s order. I did my testing for gluten intolerance with ***. Reading that web site may be helpful to you. I also read a forum that may be helpful for you to post at (***), the people there can be helpful with figuring out what to do about abdominal pain even if it is not caused by gluten. My abdominal pain took six weeks to get better; it took a wile but has been worth the effort.

You mentioned a supplement drink. Check the ingredients on the drink and make sure it does not contain soy and artificial sweeteners. If it does I would toss the drink. It is really hard to find good protein drinks without soy and artificial sweeteners. Many people are intolerant to soy, it is best to eliminate it if you are having gut problems. *** has a protein powder that I drink that contains whey protein, stevia and Xylitol that does not give me a stomach ache like other protein drinks (it is called NSI Natural Whey Protein Complex with Xylitol, Stevia & Aminogen, comes in vanilla or chocolate). I have wasted so much money on protein drinks that gave me a stomach ache; I am glad I finally found the one above.

For your heart palpitations have you tried a good calcium/magnesium supplement with a 1:1 or a 2:1 ratio of calcium/magnesium?

It is maddening to me to read that your doctor dismisses your problems as “hormonal”. If they are hormonal, supplementing your hormones will help you feel better. My suggestion would be to fire your doctor and find one who prescribes bioidentical hormone replacement. Your local compounding pharmacy will probably be able to give you a referral to someone who knows how to help you with your hormones.

Good luck!

Kathy
