I would like to hear from anyone who has used Ativan or Celexa to control tachycardia/racing heart and anxiety. My tachycardia usually lasts the length of my period for the most part along with the unrelenting anxiety and fatigue. My doctor has given me prescriptions for Celexa and Ativan which I just got filled. I am wondering if either of these have provided relief for anyone with these same problems.

Thanks so much!!

I have had some relief from the anxiety from the ativan. I have found myself increasing it slightly now and then. I am on HRT though too which has helped alot of symptoms too.

Marn, I find hormone replacement helped the tachy. And the addition of herbal tinctures and magnesium complements this.

I used klonopin for the anxiety attacks and tachy, but this is a double-edged sword as the side effects can be tachy and other stuff! So, I don't use it any more.

I have found that xanax which is similar to ativan does help with racing heart, but that is because some of my anxiety attacks are brought on by a stressful situation.

Coupled with that, though, I have found that daily exercise helps more than anything.

I tried taking Xanax but can't as I have some bad side effects. So, I am taking calcium/mag, progest cream and I really increased my exercise program. I think that has helped more than anything. I did talk to my doctor first and she thought it was a great idea since my heart is healthy.

Hi Marn, welcome to PS smile.gif

I started taking Effexor about the same time I started taking Magnesium, my palps have just aboud disappeared completely. Now, I don't know which is responsible, however; I'm going to continue taking both and just consider myself lucky at this point! When I was feeling really anxious and my heart would start to race, I would take a Klonopin and that would do the trick.

Believe me, I know how scarey and frustrating the tachycardia can be. The Claire Week's book, 'Help and Hope for Your Nerves', has really eased my mind about these bouts of palps.

Hang-in-there, relief could be on its way :0)
