I'm new here - my last period was last October (almost 4 months ago) - I'm 49 yo - periods have always been regular up till then. Since then, I had two months of hot flashes, night sweats, then nothing. My doctor asked me if I wanted him to "bring it on" - why would I want him to "bring my period on" - I like not having it. I told him no - I would just leave it be for now - I'm feeling fine - not having any other symptoms - is this the right thing to do - am I suppose to be taking any other hormones?

Count your blessings!!! This is how it went for my sister in law too-most women I know-myself included -are tormented for years with all manner of physical and emotional turmoil to the point we want to crawl under a rock until it ends-I'm happy for you-I sure don't think you need to do anything about it-welcome by the way-this site is full of wonderful supportive women

Noooo Peg! Don't take any hormones, don't let your doc tamper about with you, just take care of yourself, eat right, and hang on in there. You are doing just fine! As Mochombo rightly says, count your blessings and leave it where it is. If you are feeling ok girl, then don't do anything, just go with it.

For many of us (not all of course), the hell isn't what happens after the last period, it's the months, years even, leading up to it. I still get a period every month, but hand on heart I can say I have had a fair few of the 34 symptoms of meno listed on this site, with new ones coming and going all the time lol!

I have a Canadian friend, who is 58, who menstruated regularly up to the age of 55, no peri symptoms whatsoever. Her periods just stopped. No drama, no problems, and 3 years on she is doing just fine. Looks as beautiful as she ever did, no health issues, no weight gain, the rare night sweat or flush, but nothing that delibitates her in any way. She runs a successful business, has a partner 10 years her junior, and lives her life to the full in every way.

For every woman who suffers, there is another who sails through. There are no fixed rules with this, and it sounds to me like you might be one of the lucky ones, and I hope that is the case. Good on you girl!

I'm jealous tongue.gif ...no really just support your system with diet and maybe supplements. It is natural that our periods eventually end and I have heard of them ending abruptly. Why fix it there is nothing to fix wink.gif HUGS Mikki

Thanks guys for your responses. Yes, I'm not doing anything. Just hoping everything stays the way it is and if it doesn't, then I'll look for help if I need it. I feel OK now - I eat right and I exercise, so not too worried.

I'll be interested to see how you get on, please keep posting.
I last had a period in Sept last year and have been having hot flushes full on for the last month or so but now mine seem to have slowed up as well.

I'm hoping that will be it for me too... but then aren't we all !! blink.gif

Ok - will keep everyone up to date - so far - nothing new to report - still a little hot at night - but not really night sweats - I only had those for about two months after my period stopped in October - nothing really to complain about. The hot flashes only lasted for two months after my period stopped and nothing since (keep fingers crossed) - I am optimstic, but am realistic - I'm sure there's more to come.

Hi Everyone..
I haven't posted on PS for quite some time now, but my last period was Sept. 4th. (almost 20 weeks!) Just this past week I think I ovulated again b/c of the Spinbarkeit (mucous) so I'm expecting another period in a couple of weeks. : ( Thought I was going to sail through after all the anxiety symptoms that started 3 years ago. Guess I have a little longer to go! The period I had in Sept. was only 4 days long and much lighter than normal...no clotting, etc. Hopefully this will be my last one! I've learned reading on these message boards that I may still have another couple following this one as well, but at least I know what is normal and what isn't! Wish someone could just tell me when my last one will be and I'll deal with it!

The anxiety has let up a bit, but I can tell I'm getting jittery again with my hormones getting ready to cycle again. Oh... I'll be so glad when I'll be finished with this!

In the meantime, it's Vit. E, Vit B Complex, Evening Primrose Oil, Progesterone Cream, Magnesium and prayer!

My last was Sept too .. 19th .. 4 days and light like you. That makes 3 of us hoping to have seen the last of them in a similar time frame. Be interesting to see what happens with us ... hopefully absolutely nothing forevermore!! unsure.gif

I haven't had a period since Sep. I had an ovary removed and about a week after the surgery I had pretty bad hot flashes which lasted a few months and now they are gone. I'm hoping my period never comes back but I'm sure it will return just in time for my vacation in April. mad.gif
I have suffered from extreme anxiety, fatigue, sleeping problems, terrible memory loss and a total change in my "self being" over the last 5 years. I don't even know who I am anymore. I am going to be 42 in May. My panic/anxiety attacks started in 1996. It was a terrible time for me. Thankfully those panic attacks are behind me. I did have one two weeks ago but nothing like I experienced years ago. They were absolutely terrifying. I do still get anxiety but I can manage it with meds.
I'm not sure what my estrogen level is but my testosterone and progesterone levels are almost non-existent. My FSH is 86 and my adrenals are depleted. I do have natural estrogen and progesterone cream but I rarely use it because I can't remember to apply it!

One of my friends told me that one day her periods stopped, she had a month or two of hot flashes and that was that. She looks and feels great and its been a few years. I can't even come close to relating to such a great experience.

Just an update to an old topic - haven't had my period since October - hoping they stopped for good, but I got an April Fools joke - got my period! Yeah - NOT. Anyway, I think it only lasted a day because not too bad today - it might be gone already. I had a bad headache 3 days before I got it and I do get migraines and do take migraine medicine but was wondering why this headache was lasting so long and not responding to the medication. No other symptoms though - I only had the two months since October of the hot flashes - nothing else to report.

Hi,

I was just wondering if you skip say 3 months of periods and are waiting for "the end" if you still get monthly pms symptoms like bloating, cramping, headaches etc. When you're "done" are you really done or do the signs keep showing up for years? Yet you never get a period again?
