I just found this site and love it ! I have been reading all night. I haven't found an answer to my question (or maybe I have and my brain is no longer working )

Ok, here it goes, for the past several months my periods have been very heavy, passing large clots, lasting more than 7 days, and so on. For the past couple of months prior to getting my period I have a brown discharge for a couple of days and then I get my regular period. Well this month I am very late and have been since Friday having the brown discharge. But hardly any, normally when I wipe and only use a liner just in case... I just turned 45 in December and started my period when I was 10. I did have two misscarriages two years ago and ever since then my periods have been very heavy but always right on time.

Please help !!! I am so confused

Hi 'Terron' - welcome to the site - I've found everyone to be so supportive here and no doubt you will find the same!!

I'm not a doctor but have also had this brown discharge - normally at the end of the period. As far as I'm concerned it is just 'old' blood (and I dont mean as in weeks old!) that has just stayed in the womb a little longer than the healthy red blood and clots!!! Hope this helps - I wouldnt worry unless you get any pains.

Anyone else any thoughts on this area?

I also use to get the brown discharge at the end of my period.....woke up this morning and nothing.. I guess that was my period for the month. I don't think I have experienced many of the signs listed. A few times I have woken up very hot, my hair completely wet from sweat and I have notice my patience is not what it used to be. But I sleep like a baby. I go to bed and don't wake until the alarm goes off. One of the first things I noticed was that I was leaving a lot more hair on the brush and in the shower any time I washed my hair. So much so, that I got on the internet and goggled it. Hmmm, maybe I am just in denial and I have more signs than I want to admit.

You will find many wonderful women on this site, make friends and find comfort and support. This site has gotten me through some pretty rough times.

I too have the brown spotting before and after and was told by my Dr not to be concerned as it is just old blood.
