Actually, there is some truth to it, in terms as menopause can be debilitating and crippling period, and for some, it lasts decades or for the rest of the life.
The moral part of the article is rubish but I the way I feel on some days, makes me think about HRT more than before. Also, many women did well on even syntetic hormones back then, and those were really "horse" hormones, in terms of strength and dosage.
No one can be young and sexy and young forever, but it is kinda goes in goes in synk with Suzan Sommer books. If cancer won't be a cocern of HRT, I would take an estrogel bath every day laugh.gif
I go swimming often now, and see many women 50+ wearing patches (I assume HRT), so may be it is the way to go, who knows.., at least, I don't. sad.gif

I agree with Iradan. While this guy's language might be sadly misogynistic, I think his intentions were good. He wrote "“Many physicians,” Wilson wrote, “simply refuse to recognize menopause for what it is — a serious, painful and often crippling disease.”" We wouldn't call it a disease today, but look at the people on this board - how many of us have said "My doctor just doesn't understand what I'm going through"?

I would also add that if a woman in her forties found sex too painful, or too uninteresting, I should imagine more husbands would play away. How good could that possibly be for a marriage?

BHRT for me is a damned site better than no BHRT/HRT, and athe stats on the increase in incidents of cancer don't concern me one whit. The stats on car crashes, however...

That's interesting news -- the women go swimming with their patches. The patch companies don't commit to the effectiveness of the drug if the patch is used in water. There's something along those lines on the circular.

And, yes, it's true lots of women do well on hormones. More women do well than not. I have a friend who has breast cancer in the family, but she takes hrt to give herself a quality of life.

I am not sure, but assumed it was HRT patch. How then they take shower with the patch? I am not sure about anything nowdays.

Estradot's (vivelle) brochure reads:

Contact with water (bath, pool or shower) won't affect the patch, although v hot water or steam may loosen it and threfore should be avoided.

it goes on to say

Should a patch fall off in a v hot bath or shower, shake the water off the patch. Dry you skin completely and reappl the patch to a different area of skin and continue your regular schedule.

it also says if you like saunas, whirl pools et al, take off the patch and eiather stick it back on the backer plastic it comes on or on a piece of wax paper. Reapply to fresh, dry skin asap.
