I'm sure just another perio. symptom. trying not to freak out ! 46 years old and yesterday woke up left breast killing me on the side and also felt sore to touch or wear a bra. Never had this before ever. Could this be a gland swollen or something ? Can anyone relate or explain. Thanks.

Cat-e- I'm 47 and earlier this year I developed very sore lumps on the sides of my breasts. It hurt to walk, wear a bra and lie on them. They were hard and near my armpit extending down the outside of my breasts. I got a mamogram and ultrasound and found them to be fibroids. The pain subsided after a few months and I also cut back on caffiene. Warm compresses helped too.

You should definately confirm with your Dr. as I am only sharing my experience but if they are fibroids they are very common and you will find lots of info. I hope you feel better soon.

cat-e,
I had this fibrocystic breast problem for a couple of years, dr. did the mamogram and all was normal. They were always swollen one side more so than the other. there was just a few days once my period started that they felt normal and went to their actual size , but 4 days later swollen again and so very painful it hurt to take my bra off. Oddly about 6 mo. ago I started to get hotflashes regularly and more night sweats and and having more symptoms of estrogen decline and my cystic breast problem disappeared. They are never sore or swollen now even before my period and it's anyones guess now when that is. My thought's on this is I know this cystic breast thing comes from estrogen dominance ( so I hear)and it makes sense because when I started to get symptoms of lowered estrogen instead of just estrogen dominance it went away. I know caffiene contributes to this lumpy thing, but I never really use or used caffiene so...anyway this is how it went for me i know we are all different. HUGS Mikki

I have what is called fibrocystic breasts...or shall I say I'm just naturally lumpy..lol. There are times when they get sore and tender and my breasts will get this full feeling. Taking off my bra can sometimes make me feel like they are heavy and hurt. Most of the times I could figure that my period was gonna start any day within a few weeks but now I haven't had my period in going on seven months and I have had this occurrence maybe once so far. I was supposed to go for a mammogram about a month or so ago but couldn't go cuz my breasts were too sore. No way was I letting squeeze these puppies until the soreness let up.

I have this to and recently just my left one was pretty sore before my period and even after. You know I take evening primrose oil capsules and they really help. I first heard of this a few years ago when I went for the mamo and they gave me info on it.
Also putting a heat pad helps me when watching tv I just put it on those ol girls.
Also I noticed putting on lotion helps I think they are chapped with the cold, funny huh?
I also put on a salve that has pokeroot, calendula, vit e and st johns wort oil and that helps to.
Its really a pain isnt it?
Hope this helps
Oh one more thing I wear an oversized sports bra at this time because the reg. bras hurt and at nite I tuck the blankets under them to give them a cushion so they arent squashed.
