wishing everyone a happy thanksgiving , and praying for all of us who are suffering this year, that we will make it through the day, and stay positive and believe that next thanksgiving will be the best ever. i pray for my ps sisters everyday, and thank you for being here for me. i may feel like i'm walking in a cloud, but i am thankful that god has given me the strength to make a HUGE thanksgiving dinner. it may feel like it couldn't be any worse, but i'm sure it could be. many blessings!! kelly

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I hope you all have a wonderful time with family and friends
We don't have Thanksgiving in Australia but it must be a wonderful time when everyone is reminded of, and thankful for, the good things in their life.

Too all my American friends,
Wishing you the sort of day that will become a warm memory.
We should start a movement to celebrate both Thanksgivings, you know, in the spirit of international peace and friendship, with both days being a paid vacation...

WE don't have it over here in the Uk as they don't like us to have too much fun

BUT it's DH's birthday today, so I will think of you all as we eat our Birthday Celebration meal, and I'll give thanks to all the special ladies who have held me up during the last few years!

Happy Thanksgiving to you ladies in America.
As other UK PS ladies have said we do not have this in the UK.
Forgive my ignorance therefore but where does such a wonderful idea as a thanksgiving holiday originate from and is there anything you have traditionally to do on Thanksgiving day itself with your holdiday?

Amanda,
Thanksgiving is said to have originated when the pilgrims came to america. Native american indians were upset to see the foreigners on their territory, therefore there was much hostility between them. Finally, they made ammends by trading goods and having a feast which involved a turkey. this started the tradition of thankgiving. we celebrate by cooking a turkey and many other side items including woderfull deserts, such as pumpkin pie. At this time families get together and give thanks for their many blessings. Hope this helps you better understand!!!!! HUGS

Thanks for that Kelly, that really helped and explains the Turkey aspect which I knew you guys all had as part of your holiday festivites. Sounds great, especially the desserts!
Hope you all had a marvellous time.

Kelly - I'm from the UK too, (so please forgive me if I'm wrong!!). I also understood there was a problem with a bad harvest the first year the pilgrims arrived and something about the native Indians helping out by teaching the pilgrims some farming techniques. Is that right?
In the UK we have a Harvest Festival at the end of August (also known to some as Thanksgiving) but it is not celebrated to the same degree as the US Thanksgiving!
