I know we're supposed to eat more healthy fat, like olive oil, which I regularly consume, but as far as toastand cooking eggs, which is healthier? organic butter,or a non-hydrogenated spread like Spectrum? Also, I'm bloodtype A and they say butter is a big no-no. I really miss the taste of butter. Don't you all get tired ofanalyzing your food?

I sure do, and am glad to learn now that I am not alone. :) I can't have "this" because of "that", nor "that" because of "this".... then tomorrow that will be reversed, and some study or other will show that "this" or "that" is actually good for people. Good grief.... don't "they" have anything better to do???

I worry about this one to, I have Flora Pro active, a 'healthy ' spread which is claimed to help lower cholesterol. But I LOVE butter, and part of me thinks surely it would be better to eat small amounts of butter which is a healthy natural food, than to eat some prouduced spread? It is the limiting it I think, as it is so nice! I am blood group A too, if you read that blood type diet book we should eat vitrually nothing we want to, I thew it away!!

Thanks Beth for your response about the bloodtype diet book. I tried to follow the A diet, and it made memiserable. You could hardly eat anything. Being lactose intolerant, I only eat dairy once a week and don't eat red meat. I think you're right, butter is a natural food vs. something like a manmade spread. We need freedom to enjoy our food!!!! I'm vowing tonever buy another health or diet book that makes youanalyze everything you eat. We just need to listen toour bodies. If more people did that this country would be a whole lot healthier. So, are you putting butter or spread on your toast now? Mindy

Type A here - also.Seems to me that from putting together what I've read, what's practical, what healthy older people have eaten/eat that having whole, real foods while paying attention to people (esp. loved ones) while you eat is what seems to be the best "diet". 'Course, I pay attention to my personal allergies/sensitivities, but I mainly try to avoid processed "foods" with their chemicals, etc. I also walk, stretch and pray/meditate. If that's not deemed healthy - oh well! That being said, I enjoy reading diet books that validate my eating/exercising habits. Makes me feel virtuous. The Bloodtype Diet had some interesting things to say (some of them made sense, others.......).

Gee, I didn't know that our blood types figured into the food we could eat

I'm A positive. Does that mean I can fill up on ice cream? LOL

I knew for years that red meat and dairy didn't make mefeel too good, before I even read the blood type book.So when I read that those foods were bad for Type A, itmade sense. The other stuff, however, didn't all jive. I tried to live on spelt bread, pasta and tofu and veggies, but it didn't work out. If I can't enjoy what I eat, then I don't want to eat it. As it is, I feel I have a veryrestricted diet, not eating dairy and red meat. I couldn't possibly be happy living off spelt bread and tofu. Maybesome can, but not me. I agree with you, we should eat whole foods and enjoy them and who we eat with. I'm using organic butter on my toast instead of a man-made spread.

Mindy, I read the book, worried a bit, wrote down all the lists of Good, Bad and OK foods, then threw it away (book was only borrowed, I threw my lists away!) It restricted perfectly good healthy fruits, vegetables etc, which I love and are part of my diet, and no way was I giving all those up just because some author thinks I should!! I did take on board the fact that A groups should be vegetarian though.I am not, but rarely eat red meat, and very little dairy now. My IBS has all but disappeared now, so there must be something it, eh?

I think we should call this link the A+ blood type...I am A+ also. This is really weird. Oh, I didn't mean to copy what you said Gemini...it just hit me to post that.
Do you find that following the Diet for your Blood type works?? There must be something to it, because I really don't like red meat and love chicken and fish. Dairy does not agree with me either except for yogurt. Lactose intolerance??
Very interesting link we have going here.

Doesn't realy matter, Vickie! We'll just call it "A group

" Negative/positive only refers to the rhesus factor, and I don't believe that has any bearing on the diet, same for both!

Beth, the cmgators comes from my husband and where we recently moved to. We were from South Florida (about 25 years) and just this past December moved to Gainesville. My husband is a grad from here and obviously a Gator nut. We love it here and would never go back to S. Fla. I agree and do think there is something to the blood type diet, as I am lactose intolerant too. I think if you stick to the main thing of cutting out dairy and red meat, and eat whole foods you are doing excellent. I just couldn't go for all the other wierd stuff.
