Hi! I've posted on the perimenopause boards periodically over the past three years. Last March I went to a new ob/gyn to confirm what I suspected was perimenopause. Well - the labs came back with out question that I was perimenopause. Well....in Sept. I was shockingly diagnosed as a Type 1 diabetic which is a whole crazy mess in itself. I. of course, was referred to an endocrinologist who - upon finding out about the perimenopause diagnosis - was not convinced that this was right. He kept saying I was too young (I'm 38 years old) so he ran a bunch of tests and seems to feel that PCOS is a better diagnosis. I am not convinced as I have only skipped three periods in my life excluding while pregnant. My cycles had been absolutely regular up until about 4 years ago when I began to notice subtle changes; I do not have polycystic ovaries nor do I fit the profile in any other way other than I have increased testosterone. I guess I would like some feedback from anyone who has had this quandry and also I would like to know if PCOS also causes hotflashes and nightsweats.
Thanks!
