I"ve been reading through some posts here and am hoping to find someone whoh as experienced what I am now going through (although I'm also sorry anyone has this!).

I have the feeling like I need to uninate - often. I have NO burning/discomfort. I had 2 UTI tests in the last week - both negative/fine.
I am also experiencing vaginal dryness and just got a vaginal bactieral (not yeast) infection cleared up (I now understand that vaginal baterical infections are very common in peri/meno due to the loss of estrogen and how that then impacts the PH of the vagina). I had the feeling of "urgency" before, during and now after the vaginal infection has cleared up.

Has anyone else had the urgency feeling and not burning? If so, what did you do? I am no on bioidentical estrogen suppositories for 2 weeks, - 1 each night before bed - to see if that helps with the vaginal dryness. For me right now, the most difficult symptom though is the feeling of urgency - it does not stop!

HELP ANYONE?! Thank you so much - what a journey this continues to be! I appreciate the women on this forum SO much! Being able to post and get feedback is so very important and valuable - thank you! Kathleent

There are meds that work for urgency or frequency problems.

You might call your doc and see if they're willing to let you give one a try. If not, go see a urologist. They will prescribe it for you.

If the pills don't work, and you think it's due to dryness, there are vaginal suppositories that can help with that.

Hope you get some answers.

Kathleent,

When I first got my vaginal dryness I did have burning and was misdiagnosed with a yeast infection. Of course the meds did not help. Then I developed The frequency and urgency that you are describing. I thought that I had a UTI and that was not to be. Finally I found after 3 pelvics in three weeks dry.gif with a sore you know what I found that I was lacking in estrogen and was perscribed Vagifem vaginal tablets. It took a couple of weeks but they did work very well. I have since gone off them as I got worried about the cancer risks even though they say that it is very rare.

My symptoms have returned but I am trying alternative methods. I was told by the doctor that the dryness affects the urinary tract and that why we feel that way. Read the posts about vaginal dryness and the ones re. Vagifem. The salves help me a lot. Also read the articles in PS regarding vaginal dryness. There is ton's of great info here to help you decide what is right for you. I really hope you feel better soon.

I had the urge to urinate in the absence of a urinary tract infection also. It happened to me a couple of times. The first time, the doctor thought maybe I was just coming down with one and it wasn't showing up in the test, so gave me some antibiotics just in case. The antibiotics didn't really help, but within a couple of weeks the symptom did go away, only to return the next couple of months in a row, always just after midcycle. So I think it may have been a combination of dryness and hormonal change. I took a lot of Azo cranberry, which may have helped, even though there was no uti. This symptom was really annoying to me, but it did eventually go away and not recur. It has not happened at all in the past year. I've noticed with a lot of these peri symptoms that they come and go mysteriously, so -- knock wood -- your uti-like symptoms will just let up on their own as well.

I didn't know there were any meds that could help, and didn't take anything. Probably should have gone back to the doctor after the antibiotics didn't help, but the symptoms were so sporadic that I didn't, and now they are entirely gone. I was thinking it was associated with dryness, but I'm not sure I'm any different in that regard now as opposed to when it was happening, and yet it has stopped, so I think there must be a hormonal component. Probably now my body is more accustomed to hormones being imbalanced all the time. lol

Kathleen, have you tried Replens, you can buy it over the counter, also I have tried some natural salves if you are interested PM me and I will give you the website. Vit. E suppositoires help. I take cranberry capsules, and probiotics that help keep the freindly bacteria in tact. Also cut out coffee, sodas and sugars that helps.
Keep your self moistuerized try the k-y jels . Its trial and error I have done all of the above for now I have it under control with the salves, then alternate with the Replens especailly after my period. Then the K-y jellys is all about maintance and depends on where the hormones are at different times of the month. I feel for you it is the worst thing to have, Take care Tinks

I have this in another thread here..but dont know if everyone saw it.

I had a problem with itching and burning..and I think I had 2 yeast infections..which were never yeast infections, at all. No doctor ever found yeast, but, I could swear thats what it was.

I now think it was all feminine dryness..not inside..but outside.

I tried everything I could get my hands on, over the counter. None of these methods worked. The replense made me worse..and spot bleed. The ky jelly and glycerin based products seemed to dry me more..and if I happened to be burning..burn more...and I felt more irritated with the vitamin e oil.

I changed detergents, used every soap and moisturizing gel for showers, including baby bath. I cant tell you how many new panties I bought.

I then began to use creme de la femme. Its oil based, light and doesnt stain. I also ordered the two salves tinky uses (just in case I may need them).

But, what I found last week, helped me more than anything I have tried so far.

I bought the generic brand of summers even feminine wash, fragrance free, hypo allergenic.

I shower with oil of olay gel..but dont use it down there. After I am done with the shower and hair washing. I wash there with this feminine wash. It doesnt feel like soap and when you rinse, you feel very silky..different.

I have not had an itch or a burn in a week.

I am wondering, if all this time..it had been soaps and these moisturizing bath products causing all of this.

I still use, just a tiny, tiny dab of the creme de la femme after showering, only.

I know it sounds crazy..but maybe after a certain age..some of us cant use soaps. Many things I have read, suggest you use just water. I tried that..never felt clean. I just love this stuff. If you have never used it..give it a try. It made a big difference for me.
