I used to have a brain like a steel trap (worked in IT), and now I forget EVERYTHING!! I misspell words, I can't remember words when I talk to people, and I have to write everything down so I don't forget it. Last night, my husband and I had the following, actual, conversation:
Me: I think I forgot to remind you, but did you remember to pick up the thing for the thing?
Husband: Huh??...
I am only 44, how much worse is this going to get? And, more important, when does it go away?
Tompet,
Me too! I am only 42 and have been like this the last 5 years.
I have forgotten to collect the kids from school. I've left my car there twice & merrily walked home. Every day I forget words but some days much worse than others. I used to be a superspeller too, but not these days!
Today I drove to the postbox, then realised I'd forgotten to stick a stamp on my letter & had to go back for one. Yesterday I left an answerphone message for my son's guitar teacher. I realised I had forgotten to leave my number so I called back & left a second message. (I am not unfamiliar with leaving answerphone messages either!) It went:
"Oh Hi, it's me again, Thomas's mother, erm... I ...erm ...oh what was it.. sorry I've forgotten why I called back... erm... there was something else I meant to say... ermmm... pause... ermm Oh sorry I'll have to call back again... oh no, its Ok, I've remembered now, it was to leave my telephone number as I forgot to on the first message". What must the poor guy have thought!!! Totally embarrassing!!
I also write things down on my calendar or on lists & then forget to look on them!
