Is it too much estrogen or too much progesterone that makes boobs tender? Just wondering huh.gif
sunflowermmh
I believe it is too much estrogen...I had tender breasts for almost 2 yr's straight, literally. I was soooo sore it hurt to be hugged or to take my bra off and I am rather small chested. the swelling was so unequal it looked like I had big hard lumps in my breasts( I had a mamo and it was normal) I would have some down time for about 3 or 4 days directly after my period and it would come back. I have started having hot flashes, pretty severe ones at times, pretty much everyday and am more dizzy than I ever was...oddly my breasts aren't sore at all anymore, they are not swollen either, not even rigth before my period. I know hotflashes come from low estrogen sooo I wonder if this is my my breasts aren't sore anymore. HUGS Mikki

Hi ladies,
I have always suffered from pain in my right breast a week or so before my period....just a bodily reminder it was on it's way and I used ut as my natural gauge. Recently, it has been in both breasts so I guess my estrogen level has increased and I'm on the slippery slide to full blown menopause....yeahhhhhhh blink.gif unsure.gif unsure.gif

Thanks to both of you for your replies. I appreciate it. It's so hard to tell which hormone is is causing what symptoms, which only adds to the confusion. Right now, mine are sore the better part of the month since I have been having a period every 2 weeks for a while. I almost want to wear my bra 24/7 because it hurts to take it off LOL.

Anyway, thanks again. Take care.

I have found cutting out caffeine has significantly reduced my boobs soreness over the years. I my 20s i suffered terribly as i have lumpy breasts and I very rarely have had caffeine ever since (only chocolate, which I've now given up too because of palps). My breasts still get slightly tender with PMS but only when they get suashed - they are not really painful like before!

Thanks, squiggle, for the response. I am not typically a coffee drinker (went over 9 years without a cup), but decided to try it again a few weeks ago and over did it a bit for two weeks. Needless to say, I didn't feel too good LOL. So, I am back to being a non-coffee drinker. Although, even with the coffee, the soreness was about the same. Now, chocolate, well that's another story . . . LOL. But, it's true that chocolate has a lot of caffeine in it, so I should try to stay away from it . . . if I can (seems when PMS hits, which seems to be more often now that I often have two periods a month, the only food that tastes good is chocolate :-().

Take care.

Hi - don't forget tea and cola also have caffeine in plus some painkillers. Maybe you could try eliminating them all including the choc - see if it makes adifference?

Thanks, squiggle. You know, until recently, I didn't know that some painkillers contain caffeine. But, it's not an issue for me since I rarely need to take anything for pain - maybe 3 - 4 times a year or so. And, I don't drink cola, so that's good. I do drink green tea a few times a month, but nothing excessive. It's just the chocolate, and even that is in moderation. < sigh > I guess I will stay away from chocolate for awhile to see if it makes a difference.

Thanks for your insights. Take care.

I too had sore breasts for the entire two weeks before my period. It was terrible. I have been on bioidentical HRT for two months now, and the soreness is completely gone. It's actually a lack of progesterone that causes it. So I take progesterone on days 13-27, along with Biest every day. I feel a whole lot better!
