Boy can I give new meaning to rapid aging. I went in to see my doctor in the spring because I wasn't sleeping at all. She thought it was stress. But when the sleeping pills didn't work I realized in my sleep deprived mind that I hadn't had a period in three months. I went back to the doc and she took blood and told me I was crashing through menopause. I got my bone density and bifocals on the same day. I found I have osteoporosis two weeks later and then the eye doctor confirmed that yes I do have glaucoma and could I come in for more tests. By the way I also developed hypertension. This all happened in a period of two months. I am 41. The doctor now thinks this actually started several years ago I just did not connect the dots. I gained 10 pounds literally overnight. I have to work out with weights three times a week, aerobic exercise five days per week, take calcium, soy, blah, blah, blah. It is a full time job. My mother says welcome to the club, well I am too young to be in her club. I have hit menopause really hard. The docs all say the symptoms might be more severe because of how fast I arrived at this stage of my life. I am feeling a little lost since many of my friends are still having babies. Does anyone else feel this way??
Well, I'm nowhere near where you're at but I can relate (of course, I started this thread). I haven't even missed a period but my sex hormones are on the low side and I've been feeling it over the past year. What has really helped me is a low dose of DHEA for the past 2 months. I just checked my blood levels again and my estradiol is up. I have more tests to take but I can tell things are getting better because I'm feeling closer to normal than I have in a long time. Not perfect and not exactly the same but much improved. No more mid month/all month pain. Much less anxiety. I've been sleeping better which helps so much. I still wake up too early many days but I can get back to sleep much more easily. It used to be once I woke up, that was it and I would drag around in an exhausted fog all day. Last night I slept over 7 hours in a row, not even waking up to go to the bathroom. I cannot believe how important hormones are to our wellbeing.
My suggestion to you would be to get on some kind of bioidentical hormone regiment immediately. That will help you not to degenerate so fast. See a doctor who really knows about that stuff, not just your GP.
