silvia63
I am glad to have found this forum and I would appreciate some input

I am 43 and I am pretty confused right now whether I have already symptoms of perimenopause or if I could be pregnant

Let me start with some history ...Last year I was diagnosed with cysts which has been treated and according to my last visit everything was OK ...
Period came between 28-30 days ..In May my period lastet for almost two weeks but June and July where OK and no signs of anything irregular.
I had my last period on July 5th and another light bleeding sometime in July ( can't remember the day-sorry) and nothing since then.

The symptoms I experience is extreme exhaustion, I could sleep all the time, I have lower abdomen sensations but nothing painful and spouts of nauseau and dizziness once in a while

Now I have done a home pregnancy test which was negative and while searching the net I found this site and obviously all those symptoms could be perimenopause as well

Where do I go from here ? I have to add no one in my family went through menopause that early but obviously after readiing here I wouldn't be to young to have started

Any comments are highly appreciated rolleyes.gif

Hi silvia63

First may I say welcome to PowerSurge.

I would suggest that you see your doctor and put a rest to your confusion.

Your G/P can check your hormones. My G/P checks my estrogen, progesterone and testosterone every three months. It is not the levels that seem to matter but the relationship between the levels.

I was about your age when I started to skip my period it would be gone for 3 months then come back I am now 50 and I have not as yet reached a year without a period. My longest was 8 months.

Before my periods I would/will get very nauseas dizzy and extremely tired.

So yes your symptoms could be peri symptoms. But as you stated it could be pregnancy.

We are all different and as I say I am on my own journey, but thanks to PowerSurge I have been able to empower myself with some knowledge to help me make decisions about how I am going to handle my journey though this change in life.

I recommend that you read trough the site to learn more.

Good luck with your journey.

Welcome Silvia: I'm glad you found us---this is a wonderful community of women...please look at the articles on the homepage of the site--it's chock full of information. Regarding your current dilemma, I can relate. I'm 44, and for the past 2 years my periods have been strange, or missing altogether. I get the same symptoms you describe, and have spent so much money on home pregnancy tests, that I actually started buying them in bulk online. The only way to tell for sure is to have a blood test...I would urge you to do so. Symptoms of peri-menopause are so wide and varied, and they can mimic pregnancy.

I haven't used birth control for over a year now, and have not become pregnant (I would be thrilled, however, if I were!). At this point, I just don't think I"m ovulating every month. I'm going to give it 6 more months, I think, and then either hubby or I will get 'fixed.'

good luck, and keep posting!

Thanks to both of you - you are very kind biggrin.gif

Robin, me and Hubby would be thrilled ourselves but I guess best is to get an appointment with the Gyn...which I try to avoid on one side ..Why on earth are the symptoms so similar ?? ohmy.gif

But I better go before I drive Hubby nuts laugh.gif

I will keep in touch and continue reading ..
