Hi everyone.

I'm 49 and sure I am in the throws of peri. I have had a rash for about 3 weeks and not sure all this is related but here goes....

Deciding I could not take this anymore, I broke down and visited my family doctor this past Tuesday, who basically looked at the rash under my bra line and slightly on the underside of my breasts and said the thought it appeared to be a fungal infection (have had one before there in that area before long time ago)

I certainly hope he is correct but what bothers me is that its been 4 days now since I took the duflucan (1 tablet) and have been applying the cream but while it appears to be a bt better, its still there and I still have itching.

OK.....so this all adds to an even MORE pronounced case of anxiety as you can guess.

Yesterday, while I have a rash in general, I was starting to worry about something and all of a sudden I felt a real intense itching. I looked under my shirt and in the rash area I could see a raised up HIVE!! So again I don't know if this is all hormonal related or not but this rash thing with an intermittent hive popping up here and there, has been going on now for like 3 weeks and getting real old....

Does anyone remember getting the "chills" alot? Goosebumps should I say, like you can't get warm? I am getting this allot during the day and at nite and not sure if its hormone/nerves related or what. I am NOT talking after a hot flash persay. Just in general, like I cannot get warm...

Of course when you look up "chills" as a symptom on the internet it gives one all sorts of things for the cause...and of course one being CANCER..

Gotta stop "googling" so much I guess.

I also get the skin crawling sensation alot. But I was wondering if this causes chills? I guess its chills because I feel cold.

I don't even have to be having a hotflash, which is not real frequent yet anyhow, at this time to get the sensation that I am feeling cold (sure that will get worse)

Am I losing my mind or what? sad.gif

If this would only pass. Thinking I should start on some natural progesterone cream.

Not sure if it would help THESE symptoms but I am so desparate to try anything at this point.

Hi Spalady,

I have also had an extremely itchy rash under the breasts twice. The first time I got it was 6 months ago and I thought it was maybe thrush/ candida/ fungal infection like you (I have quite large boobs and it has been hot here this summer) and I applied candida cream for about 4 weeks before it finally went away. The area still remained itchy though. The rash came back again recently and this time I showed my family doctor. She told me it looked more like dermatitis and gave me a strong cream for that. It cleared up in a week. I now suspect it was a reaction to an underwired bra I wore ( usually I wear sports bras instead as I hate wires). I do react to earrings that are not hypoallergenic so this is likely.

The doc said that if it is extremely itchy like that is is usually dermatitis - hope this helps you - it sounds similar!!

Now then - yes, like Clarissa, I also get the localised goosebumps without actually being cold. Usually it is on my head or legs. I have had them on/off for about 5 years. At first I was really worried, researched the internet, asked the doctor etc. ( I do have bad health anxiety) but now I no longer worry about this symptom at least because I think it would have got worse by now (after 5 years) if it was something serious. I think it is either peri, nerve irritation or both!! It is worse when I am tired.

I don't get hot flashes either but my thermostat has definitely had it. I am always either too hot (sometimes to the point of feeling faint) or can't get warm (then a hot bath is the only thing that works - but then I get too hot about 10 mins afterwards so I can't win!!) blink.gif dry.gif

H squiggle,That's really good to know! Yes I too have large breasts, 42D so its not helping the situation. But I have always uses a powder (gold bond) under there and this always seemed to keep these issues at bay....Se I have been using an anti-fungal cream that my DR prescribed and it did seemed to help start to take away the rash but then it came back. Maybe it is dermatis. Like the itch would remain like you said even though the rash was almost gone. Not sure whee the one hive I get off and on in that area after exercising or worrying alot, comes into play though, What is dermatits exactly? Do you remember the name of the cream he gave you?Hey I am willing to try ANYTHING at this point and I think like you my anxiety over it, is just making it worse since having stress and anxiety tends to raise your cortisol levels and increase your histimite response to things.

HI again spalady,

I live in the Uk so the cream may have a different name. Here it is called eumovate but the generic ingredient is clobetasone butyrate 0.05%. Dermatitis is a localised allergic type skin reaction.

Hey we are the same bra size!!! Do you have wired bras? I ususally try & stick to high-cotton sports types but ocassionally I wear a strapless underwired one if it is hot weather and I need a strappy top.

I should also mention I had a bad case of hives in reaction to a stomach medication 18 months ago. It coincided with the start of my anxiety, gastritis and many other peri symptoms which is when peri really took off for me. The hives went on for about 6-8 weeks after I stopped the medication. I think peri makes our bodies supersensitive to everything! dry.gif

Hi Ladies,

I have also experienced the hives; my first symptoms were head pressure and dizziness and then along came the hot flashes and hives. The worst was the itchiness on the arch of my right foot, no amount of scratching would help. It is must better now, but at its worst I would feel very hot, followed with hives. The doctor thought that maybe I was allergic to a certain food so I had a skin test and it showed no food allergies. I felt like telling him that I was allergic to myself. I have also experienced the bug crawling sensation on my arms and the cobweb sensation on my face... this is all so weird, but survivable.

Take care everyone and fnd comfort that you are not alone. I am taking bioidentical hormones but I really thing with time the symptoms will become less severe.

An interesting thing my doctor said when I had the hives reaction to the stomach med was that it wasn't an allergic reaction, but a sensitivity reaction. Makes sense as Peri can definitely make us more sensitive to things!!

Okay---forgive me for being brain dead, but is gernal chills another name for goosebumps? huh.gif
Spalady
Yep that would be my chills sensation alright!!! biggrin.gif I likes your explanations of being hyper-sensitive in those areas. Its like being sensitive to touch in those areas as well. Almost like a tickling itchy sensation when I touch my skin or the area with the rash itself.I guess that best desribes it. ...or heebie jeebies comes to mind too LOL

Just to confuse you - we call goosebumps, goosepimples in the UK!!

I've never heard of gernal chills - could google it I s'pose???

Where are your gernals or am I being naive????
Spalady
lol....I guess so..

Actually my chills /goosebumps are prominent more on my arms and legs.

If I am touching the area near my rash or any that is hypersensitive it brings it on as well.

I see the rash is starting now in a brand NEW area...sort of leaving under my bra line and now below my throat above my bosoms LOL..but not on them

Oh lucky me....its itching there like mad. Maybe I need to get some hydro-cortizone cream to help with this.

Doubt it will do much but worth a shot.

Itching alot there now....

Hiya again Spa,

If it is dermatitis hydrocortisone should help somewhat, but my doc told me the stronger cream I mentioned that she gave me would be better.

With the hives reaction and the dermatitis, I found non-drowsy antihistimine helped with th itching and also a tepid bath.

Is the rash raised and pimply?

I'm sure this is going to be a short lived problem for you - you just need to find the right treatment/ cream. The itching is unbearable thoughisn't it?
Spalady
Doctor actually called in Zyrtec for me yesterday and I took my first pill last nite. It made me very drowsy so I will only be taking this at nite when I am fast asleep.

I am hoping if I take this for 4 days or so it will relieve my itching sensations more and more that it goes completely out of my mind.

The areas are more of a spotty rash, not blistery or anything...Sort of just slighty raised red areas but they don't look like pimples for the most part. Like the start of a sunburn or something but some raised areas, splotchy is perhaps the best to describe it...YOURS?

Driving me crazy is exactly IT!

Maybe I am expecting too mcuh too soon with the Zyrtecc (an antihistamine) Might take a few days to do its thing....
squiggle
Splotchy is EXACTLY how I would describe mine!!! It really does sound similar, Spa! The doc said I would know within a week if the cream was working - by day 7 it was virtually gone. It was available non-prescription so I'm sure you can get it over there under a different name! The chemical ingredient will be the same.

One other thing I did after applying the cream was to put a clean tissue between me & my bra to avoid further irritation from my bra. Dermatitis can be caused by a reaction to the washing powder too).

Let us know how you get on - I know what it's like!!

I have the exact same thing and it's a weird feeling. I have chills and my skin is crawling in 100 degree weather right now. I'm so frustrated and don't know what to do. I had a hysterectomy 3 and a half years ago and I know my estrogen is very low at this point, so it may be connected to that.
