I am worried about my mother she recently stopped having her period back in November, so she thought that she was going through menopause, and now 9 months later she is having her period. I am really worried. My question is, is it normal for her to have a period again after 9 months of stopping completly ??

Please dont worry about your Mom...it is perfectly normal....some woman can get it after6months-9 months-11 months....its all part of the process. She can start counting again ...go 11 months.... and get it again..like I said its all part of peri- menopause. Your Mom is very lucky to have you as a daughter........but please sweetie ..dont worry ....it very normal! Come back anytime if you have anymore questions...or tell your Mom about this site...she might like to know about it!

As AA said, it's nothing to worry about. I've had it happen twice at 9 months. Now I've finally gone 12 months without, so that's when they say you're "officially" in menopause.

My gyn said there was no cause for alarm, just remind your mom to get her pap smears every year and have a gyn check. The gyn can rule out any other cause for the bleeding, but what she's experiencing is pretty much the "norm" for some of us.

Yup - sounds normal from what I have read on the board here - I have had 2 longish breaks 7 months and 5 months - and now my peirods are doing the irregular thing.........no rhyme or reason
