Hello everyone, I am new here and have lots of questions. First of all, I was wondering if anyone here had been prescribed Adderall for depression. My aunt has tried every antidepressant out there, and nothing helped her until Adderall. She says she actually feels like herself again. I have tried it and it has helped me tremendously. The only problem I have is insomnia. I have had insomnia for years now and tried lots of things. Nothing over the counter works for me. Recently my dr. put me on Ativan 2 mg at night, but it doesn't seem to help relax me as much as xanax. I have taken xanax in the past, and it worked well. I have problems waking up during the night having panic attacks, and I can take xanax and rest and it really helps my anxiety. I also tried Lexapro, but it gave me a really bad sexual side effect (I couldn't have an orgasm

Hi Mommyof5
This is Donna, the queen of antidepressants. I am not a doctor.........I don't even play one on TV!!!!!!!! But.............Adderall is not classified as an antidepresant. Adderall (dextroamphetamine) is classified as an Amphetamine (speed).......It may work for some people as an antidepressant because it is a stimulat. It is most prescribed as an ADD and/or ADHD medication. It is said to improve attention span, concentration, and emotional control, and reduce restless and/or overactive behavior. It has the opposite effect on non ADD ADHD people.................It is also widely prescriibed for Narcolepsy, an illness that makes it difficult to stay awake during normal daytime hours. Lots of side effects including the possibility of increasing psychoitc illness, depressed mood, or suicidal thoughts. And it can also increase you blood pressure, increase blood sugar and cause havoc with your thyroid........................................................................ I had my former Psychiatrist give it to me because he though I had adult ADHA...... My heart rate was 223 BPM when I got to the ER. Needless to say I stopped the Adderall. This is most likely the reason you can't sleep ----you are Speeding I WAS SPEEDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I WAS THE SPEED QUEEN FOR 2 WEEKS.................... Then I CRASHED And BURNED.......... My God - I preaching again!!!!! Sorry I just had a very bad experience with that drug. Donna -------------------- People are in Greater Need of your PRAISE
when they TRY and FAIL ....... than when they TRY and SUCCEED |
