Hello! I'm excited to have found this site. I am having a hard time figuring things out though. I'm not a big internet person as it is so that might explain some of my confusion. I'm unable in send or reciecve pms. Is that because I dont have enough posts or is there another reason? Also I dont understand how you get "friends" and how you use that feature Thankyou, Lara See I proved my point. I dont know what the heck I'm doing. I hope I put my previous message in the right place. Help!!!!!!!! Lara |

Hi Lara and welcome Sorry that no-one seems to have answered your post. To enable send and receive messages- Go to "my controls" -top right of page next to "view new posts" Go to options-bottom left Click on board settings-5th down You can then set all your board display settings including personal message options. To add someone as a friend click on the drop down list by one of the member's posts and "ad as a friend" will be an option. Just click on it and it will take you through the process. Hope that helps. I am sure once you get the hang of it you will enjoy using the site! Good luck janet c |

Help ... I am also having the same problem that the OP had here ... cannot do PM's or receive PM's. I did change my board controls (the one that says "Disable personal messages?" is set to "NO," which I think is right, but it doesn't work whether it's set to yes or no (I tried).
I also tried to send an e-mail to the forum moderators with no success. Also could not post my own thread on this forum (under Board Problems), although I am able to post in other areas. Could someone please help me on the PM thing, because I really need to PM someone that tried to PM me yesterday (and she wasn't able to either, probably because something on my profile is not set right). Thanks much! |

Kath, I'm in the Uk, I didn't have any problems today, however, i did last week when the site was down. I've been coming here for a few years now and the site does does down occasionally (often due to hackers or site updates) but it always comes back again. Driver error is usually the message you get when it happens. Just try again later. There is a temporary board http://www.quicktopic.com/33/H/NDHffQWfq3HVW if the site is down for a long time.

RE your friend - if she is still getting the driver error message, then it may be she has an old copy of the PS page in her browser and needs to 1) empty it out and 2) set it to look for updated pages.

Correct my post above to say when the "board" was down, not the entire site! LOL

I am having trouble with private messages. I cannot send or receive them. I checked my account info and the messages are allowed. Can anyone give me some advice (preferably a walk-through!)?
Thanks in advance. Mary -------------------- Childbirth is easy.....menopause.....now that takes GUTS!

Hi Everyone, new here I have just replied to you about this on your profile page. You need to enable messages by clicking on my controls, then go to options then board settings. You have to ensure you have clicked the box to be able to send and receive. janet c |

I just tried to send you a PM but a mesage came back as "no such member". It is probably because you only registered a couple of days ago. Give it a while and keep trying, It seems to be how things work here-MaryME has now had success so that is good! janet c |

I just tried to PM you as well, with no luck. When I PM you it says your PM's are disabled or something. When I was having trouble, it said I wasn't allowed to send messages, or something like that. What kind of error message are you getting? Hope it works for you soon. I was really frustrated too!! Mary -------------------- Childbirth is easy.....menopause.....now that takes GUTS!

MaryME - I think due to a load of spambot trouble earlier in the year on the site, I believe certain things are disabled for new posters, the ability to send PMs being one of them. (It was confirmed this is the case by MaryO earlier in this thread - see posts 467/ 468) Once you have posted a certain number of times (I don't know how many) you should find you will be able to do this.

guidelines for graphics on birthday threads...
Donna asked me about b/day graphics... I was going to start a new topic but for some reason I'm having probems ..... Here are some instructions that I hope you can understand. Google a graphic site.... type in "birthday graphics" or somethng like that. A good one is www.glitter-graphics.com.... There is a little box half way down the page, it's a search box ---- type in "birthday greetings" When you've dont that, a whole list of greetings should pop up...... chose which graphic you like and then click on it..... It will then say "download image" (it's just underneath the graphic),.... click on it! .... when the image has downloaded, right click on it and click on "properties" - a little box should pop up on your screen ---- highlight the ADDRESS URL and click okay. Go back to the reply on Power-Surge --- On the top of the page you will see 10 icons --- click on the one that says "insert image" You should see a message that pops up on the top of the page that says " This website is using a scripted window to ask you for information. If you trust this website, click here to allow scrited windows .....so click on it! A box should pop up -- click on " temporarily allow scripted windows" Then, click on the "insert image icon" again, Another window will pop up which says "explorer user prompt" You then enter the URL for the image -- and then click okay..... when you've done that --- click on preview ----- and your image should pop up ---- This is how I do it anyway --- |

After you highlight the ADDRESS URL you need to copy it (I usually do that by clicking on (Ctrl and C on the keyboard) and then you press okay.... It looks complicated but really, it isn't! If you need more help give me a shout. |
