So around dinner time tonight my left shoulder started to ache and feel sore, and my arm too a little. Guess what I thought? I'm going to have a heart attack. I haven't had it yet, and my shoulder doesn't hurt anymore.

Hi maine:
I am having some incredibley bad anxiety today. Dizzy spells (the room moving kind) and feeling like my head is going to blow off, buzzing and internal shaking plus just in general feeling like I am just going to die right where I am at. The worst thing I have ever thought was wrong with me was a brain tumor and that was what I blamed on all the anxiety and dizziness. Hugs to you and hope that you are feeling better. So around dinner time tonight my left shoulder started to ache and feel sore, and my arm too a little. Guess what I thought? I'm going to have a heart attack. I haven't had it yet, and my shoulder doesn't hurt anymore. That's me too. Almost everyday, at least once, I think I'm going to have a heart attack. It starts with weird little pains in or near my chest, neck, shoulder or arm. Then I sit there "waiting" for it to get worse. Sometimes it does, and sometimes it doesn't. Other times, I start feeling other stuff, lightheaded, dizzy, maybe a little queazy. So I keep waiting, thinking.....and then it all goes away. It makes me feel like IF I EVER WAS HAVING A REAL HEART ATTACK, I MIGHT THINK IT'S JUST ANXIETY AND SIT THERE AND DIE!!!!!!!!!! Flesh-eating bacteria and ovarian cancer. Needless to say, neither has come even CLOSE to developing.

My "What diseases haven't you had?" list would be shorter.
I suppose my worst disease was ALS (Lou Gherig's disease). I had that for a while. But I had Parkinson's longer. And I had it off and on. Imaginary diseases can be fickle, don't you know ... Sukie |

I had ALS when my eyelid was twitching...Don't blame me, blame google which helpfully directs you to ALS if you type in "twitching"... |

Crikey where to start.....
Had my DH with lepto spirosis (squirell related??) aswell as having sceptosemia (sp?) running parallel with pneumonia!! Also thought my DD had a rare reaction to antibiotics ( had diahrhea) when I had ruled that out,was adamant someone was poisoning her!!! turned out was the unfiltered water at nursery!!! Surprised I haven,t been locked away. yet when i,m in self(or anybody) diagnosing mode,I,m convinced I,m right with my diagnosis at that time. Freaks me out, glad i,m not the only one PHEW thankgoodness for you ladies here KathS -------------------- Keep your face to the Sunshine And you cannot see the shadows Helen Keller |

Oh, if we're talking about kids too.... everytime my preteen was sick I was sure he had meningitis, especially if he complained that his neck hurt. You have heard those stories where the kids was home with a bad cold/flu, got really bad so went to the hospital. It was meningitis and the kid ends up dying. So, he was finally old enough for the meningitis shot and got it. Now I don't think he has meningitis anymore. Wish there was a peri shot!

I also hate going on trips I am always afraid that there will be a bad accident and I will die !!! Or worse my son would die!
No my new fear is getting the swine flu!! I would like one day when I am not worried about something!!!! Laurie |

Today I have the most horrendous joint pain in my hands which I have never had before. My knees and legs have hurt like crazy, but today the hands got in on the act. Plus I have a huge purple place on the inside of my left thumb and it is so painful to the touch.... now I think I have Raynaud's for sure or RA since other autoimmune diseases can go along with Hashi's. I, too, have quit this googling symptoms. I just could not afford the extra anxiety that it produced.

Flesh-eating bacteria and ovarian cancer. Needless to say, neither has come even CLOSE to developing. Dear 'Webalina' Have to go with the flesh-eating bacteria as the two bacterias I really did pick up in Hospital were really nasty and had to have necrotic flesh removed!Delightful As for the rest they have mostly been the product of my over active imagination. Dear'nc53215' Have to admit that on the "Mental" side I have diagnosed myself with Manic Depression-mostly manic!plus Anxiety about being wrongly brain wired. I think that Patrick Swayze was Pancreatic Cancer but who's counting. The strange thing is that for reason I never feel I will ever get Cancer.I don't know why I have this strong conviction but then again it could be part of my un-diagnosed mental conditions. Ladies! I have a new health problem to report! I'm reading, "Carved in sand," a book about changes in memory at midlife. There's a section on stress and how it can impact the hippocampus. Long-term stress can actually kill hippocampal neurons; The hipppocampus can even shrink.
Sooooooo you guessed it! I'm now convinced that my previously healthy hippocampus is now a shriveled up little peanut! I have hippopeanutitis! Woo hoo! |

"Google is the devil." That is SO true! Put me down for an agreement to this! It's crazy how you can type in the most mundane symptom, like -- I don't know..."pimple", and the first things that come up are always the most horrific diseases your mind can conjure up. Why can't it go with the easy stuff first -- "It's just an ingrown hair. Get over it." Nope. Its recommends getting checked for skin cancer...and not the "just burn it off" kind, but the deep, scarring, life-threatening melanoma kind. Maybe Google needs some kind of meds to stop overreacting to everything. -------------------- Webalina

There's always the possibility of a brain tumour and who knows what tomorrow will bring? |

Themainemom: Sorry you had two heart attacks this week. I hate when that happens.
I'm happy to report that I have a new disease. I've been watching Animal Planet's "Monsters Inside Me' (about parasites). Pretty sure I got toxoplasmosis from my cats (common carriers) and that that's why I feel crazy. Learned that this parasite can cause schizophrenia. My apologies to all the cat-lovers out there who just got inflicted with the same virus thanks to my post. Sukie |

I've had melanoma, kidney failure, MS, Lyme disease, and at the moment, it's breast cancer. Never mind the normal mammogram, normal ultrasound and numerous lump-free breast exams, or the radiologist who told me he was POSITIVE I don't have breast cancer, Google knows best. I'd go have a glass of wine to try to relax about this, but drinking increases the risk of breast cancer!
Maybe I'll go see if the parasite show is on.....schizophrenia might be better than breast cancer! |

Love this string. My recurring ailment is Parkinson's. My mom died of it and I am convinced that I will get it too. Well, not so much convinced as scared to death. There is nothing worse than living in fear. Every twitch and dizzy spell that comes with menopause just further confirms I have Parkinson's. Of course I have been getting it for over 2 years and yet it is not progressing; interesting. And, even though statistically speaking, relatives of Parkinson's patients have only a slightly higher risk of developing the disease then the general population, I am still convinced that I am destined to get it. What is it about hormone imbalance that makes us so paranoid? I too have had to ban Google from my life when it comes to medical issues. I will monitor this string to keep up with everyone's ailments. I have cats as well so may get that parasite soon. Only time will tell....
-------------------- Happy 1
I used to say "Don't sweat the small stuff", but since menopause, I sweat all the time! |
