Got my hormone and thyroid tests back today. Guess, what....I'm normal! Still waiting on all the tests my GP is doing and hoping she can figure out what's wrong. I am convinced my issues are hormonal, but now I'm confused and stressed out even more. Why can't I just be normal? I'm leaving for vacation in the morning and don't even want to go. The thought of traveling when I feel like crap is giving me such anxiety my blood pressure is through the roof, which gives me even more anxiety. It sure would be easier to take the week off work and just stay home with the blinds drawn and sleep.

Please don't despair. Many of us were told we are 'normal' but it took doing our own research and finding the right docs and doing the right tests to find that yes, there is a reason we feel awful.
Your thyroid tests can show your levels as 'normal' but a good thyroid doc will know that if you are low in the normal range, you can still be hypothyroid. Can you post all your test results? Don't forget to also post the lab ranges for each test since ranges can vary. Also list all your symptoms and whether or not they seem to come at the same time in your cycle. I don't know what my numbers were, they just left a message that the tests were normal. I am going to my regular doctor when I get back from vacation to go over those results and the results from the tests she is running. I will know more then. As for my symptoms, I just started tracking them this past month, but I am continually off balance, have internal shaking, terrible gas and chest fluttering (I think this is from the gas and not heart palps, but who knows), terrible BO that I didn't used to have, brain fog, clumsiness, terrible headaches and now new this week, high blood pressure and terrible anxiety (I'm on my period this week so not sure if that's the cause but I am also very anxious about my vacation). I get my period regularly, but I am also on bc pills due to PCOS. If I'm not on the pill, I only get my period a couple times a year, so I have no idea what's really going on there. No hot flashes or anything like that. This is just the only place I have found with ppl with my same symptoms, so I was sure this is what was going on with me. My symptoms are pretty much happening ALL the time, except the anxiety thing that was just this week. The chest flutters may be isolated to period week too. I haven't been tracking long enough to really know for sure. The other stuff, every day. I am 40 and feel like I am 60. I hate it! Tracypt |

I am 40 also and another one who the doctors say everything is normal. I feel like my hormones are screwed up most of the time although they are in the normal range. I am sorry you are feeling horribly. Hopefully you will feel better soon, and I hope you have a stressless vacation!

Tracypt Dear 'Tracypt' It infuriates me when Doctors use that word 'normal' especially when we are not feeling at all well. Does normal apply to everyone who falls into a sort of 'Norm Criteria. However, there is help out there. What about seeking a second opinion? It might be that because your Hormones are fluctuating that you need help with the high anxiety .either with Therapy or a prescription Anti-Anxiety Med.It is very harmful to have high Blood Pressure and it often jumps up because of the anxious feelings. If you are open to it you could discuss HRT or BHRT with your Gyno. Am very sorry that all this is happening at your vacation. I hope you enjoy it as much as possible When you get back be pro-active about your health and well being and never ever give up in finding what will help you through these transitional years. Thank God for these lovely ladies on Power-Surge.. Have learned more information and advice on this Site than from most Doctors Sad but true. Please keep us posted Warm Wishes Elizabeth |

I know this doctor would NOT, he was an a*s, but my other doctor might. She seemed like she wanted to find the answer to this. And the day they took my bloodwork was day I had the terrible anxiety and had several breakdowns that same morning. You would think if my levels were giving me the anxiety, it would have shown. I don't know, this is all new to me. Well, off to get ready for the airport. I'm sure I'll be posting lots when I get home. Thank you to everyone for all your support. You have done wonders for me the past few weeks!!! Tracypt |

Hi Hon......I posted up almost the exact same thing this past Tuesday. Almost had a complete nervous breakdown and sobbed all day after the doc suggested perhaps I was bi-polar and not menopausal. The women here jumped to my defense with stories very similar to mine. I feel so much better now......and know to just keep on trucking.....I will get someone to listen to me and so will you. Enjoy your holiday....u have earned it.

Tracypt Dear Tracy I believe that we sensible women know our bodies very well and sometimes we have to fight to be heard. You sound like a lady who is having a very hard time both physically ,emotionally and mentally. So I think the best thing to do is try to seek out a Doctor who is interested in helping Menopausal women. This might be got from satisfied friends or researching Gynos. in your area through the Internet In the Chinese Horoscope I am the cat-sweet but a little docile-but when that Gyno.pulled me off Hormones cold Turkey and I tried to cope-big disaster. So I made my appointment, reminded him this is my body and I am the Primary Caretaker and now I want my Hormones back. Suddenly I was a Tiger! He was the one whom I told him to try living out his life without Testosterone and then seeing how he felt. So stay Well Enjoy your trip And put on those boxing gloves when you get back! I was going to call my doctor's office today and insist on getting my hormones tested but the office is closed today because of the holiday tomorrow. |

For years I was also told my hormone/thyroid levels were "normal". But inside I knew something was wrong. The fatigue, the hair loss, the weight gain...
I finally went to a naturopathic doctor who confirmed my thyroid was low and I was finally put on medication for it. Hang in there. It may be just a matter of finding the right doctor. Please, please don't dispair! -------------------- I am Menopausa, PeriMeno Warrior Princess!

Which one do you take? How long before you felt better? I am on Sprintec,it is the third bcp I have tried and it works wonderfully. It took around two to three weeks to feel the first effects, but by two to three months I was much better. It takes some sorting out,but it was worth it.GOD-bless -------------------- GOD is my strength

I would 1 get myself on a full vitiamin regiment. 2 stay away from all stress. 3 do not for any reason what so ever take any benzo' s or anti depressents. 4 find a compounding pharmacy near you and see if they know any gyno's that do bhrt's There now that is a good start for you, dont wait round and listen to all the text book Dr's we are all different but the same.
