I keep calling what I have adrenaline rushes or surges but Im not sure that what they are......of course I think they are something serious........but they come out of no where and only last for about 20-30 secs.........they start in my stomach with a butterfly feeling then spread through out my body a numb and tingling feeling........but the scarest thing is my mind goes blank or I hear things that arent really going on.......Im not even sure Im describing it right but there doesnt seem to be anyway to really describe it right..........but I just feel like I leave my body for those few secs and nothing seems real......it only last for a few secs but scares the crap out of me...I sometimes go weeks without them but then they come back and I will have 1 or 2 a day..so Im wondering what others feel when having an "adrealine rush or surge"................Valerie
also wanted to add that I take xanax and it doesnt make a difference with these adrenaline things.....it helps with anxiety but not these.....beta blockers helped when I started them but they have returned.........Valerie |

Valerie
I also get these rushes. Aren't they horrible? Mine come out of now where too and start at my stomach and work up to head. I have alot of anxiety going on and not sure if thats related. I take Klonopin for anxiety and sleep. I've been taking Paxil for 8 months now and I'm thinking I might have to up the dose a bit. It seems like there's been more downs then good lately. So I know what your feeling.... hugs char |

Not sure if that's what I've been having but they sure sound similar. Trouble is, I have anxiety disorder and sometimes have panic attacks. My anxiety disorder was under control on paxil until I started having these "spells" in December. Unfortunately, I have them about every five minutes all day long and have to take LOTS of meds to sleep at night. Even with all the medication to sleep, I still wake up feeling like I've already had ten pots of coffee!! I still haven't figured out if all this is hormone related because I can't get any MD to check my hormone levels, but Dr. Vliet's book "It's my ovaries, Stupid" says these "adrenaline bursts" are the bodies reaction to fluctuating hormones. (falling estrogen, if I remember correctly).

I have had this too, the exact way you are describing. It is awful. You are not alone. Yes, the anxiety then builds from there.

((((((((Valerie)))))))))))))))) not sure if what I get is the same thing. Sometimes when I stand up it feels like my head gets really full for like 30 seconds...and my ears feel clogged. I've have such severe anxiety for several weeks now...every day, it's dreadful and I'm 2 years+ with no period myself. I sure hope this passes for all of us.

(((((((Karen)))))))).......I get that sometimes when I stand up too........but it isnt the same as one of my rushes.........the doc said the standing up thing with the head fullness is most likely when my bp is low or Im dehydrated (cuz I hate drinking water).........but I have been trying to drink more.......and whats up with us still feeling this way 2 yrs after stopping??........but we have to have faith that it will get better SOON!!...........hugs Valerie

I get the weird mind thing too. I think that comes from the anxiety that arises from the rush. It can scare the crap out of me and then it takes a while to recover. I feel out of sorts for hours, hoping it doesn't come back. this is a very rough time of life, one that I hope goes quick for all of us.

I describe these symptoms to doctors and I get that look of I heard it before. My blood work was good (went to dcotor for physical 3 months ago). I ask myself every time when is it going to stop. Take care! Barbara |

I've been having these "rushes" and waves of panic with constant anxiety for seven months now, and I'm only 40!! If this is what I have to look at until years after menopause, I hope menopause starts tomorrow! I can't take them anymore either! ((((((((((((((group hug))))))))))))))))))) |

Having been diagnosed with anxiety disorder doesn't help. Once a doctor has a diagnosis that they think covers it all, they never look any further. |

Post over 2 years, I'm ready to be done NOW! Maybe I just have an anxiety problem? I have been post for 6 yrs and still have awful anxiety. I had to take something today. Called my psyc doc today and he wants to increase my Paxil and see how it goes. I'm totally freaking out over this. When I look back on my life I've always been nervous and full of anxiety. It might just be as we get older we just have to accept the feelings that go on with our lives. Take your meds when you need them and do what u need to feel better NOW....hang in there babe...char |

Barbara I have the "adrenaline rushes" too, and have also gotten "the look" from my doctor. I seem to get them more at night, waking me out of a sound sleep. They come and go, I can't find anything particular thing to attribute them to, other than hormones. At least we can come on this website and compare notes! |

just adding to the variations on the adrenaline rushes that might be helpful to women out there who find their bodies to be doing alien things. my adrenaline rushes run down the interior of my inner thighs, usually comes along with a night sweat and is comparable to how one feels coming out of a really bad dream... you feel paralized.

I am not sure if these are the same thing, but whenever I wake up from a nap or sleep I have been getting these rushes throughout my body also. It is only when I am waking up though. I also have depression and am not sure if this is part of the depression or what. It starts in my stomach and works its way up, then I just feel miserable. Does anyone get these when awakening? Always something, isn't it!!

Hello ladies
Yes I also get these when awakening. Every friken morning... When I lay on the couch in the afternoon I will doze off for maybe 10 minutes and BAM I wake up with the surges. It kind of takes my breath away. So I try not to nap. |
