Hello Ladies,
I just had to write because I was up half the night feeling anxious and worried! I have had a headache since Friday and just generally not feeling well since Thursday. In the middle of the night I feel slight nausea and last night I rolled over and started feeling this weak, yucky feeling. I keep thinking I'm having precursor to an aneurysm or blood clot or stroke! I hate being this scared and worried. I keep trying to figure out why I've had this strange headache (it feels achy and weird and I can't pinpoint exactly where it is in my head!) I am 45 and still have regular periods although day 2 is usually very very heavy. Today I am on day 25 on my cycle and expecting my period any day now. Could this be why I'm feeling so lousy? I've been so good convincing myself that my bad days are just due to perimenopause. I'm like most of you on here...had CT scan of my head and all kinds of blood tests and EKG and everything, THANK GOD, has come back normal. I am soooo worried today because of these headaches and feeling yucky. Just wanted to vent and have someone to sympathize with me that truly understands. Thank you for reading this. |

I'm going on my 5th week of daily headaches. They span the back of my head from ear to ear. I feel like I have been smacked with a 2x4 in the back of the head! I too am having issues with nausea when the headaches start and a funny body feeling also. After this many weeks I am starting to think (my ocd kicks in here) weird thoughts about why I am having these. Reality says it's stress or my neck is out again. Odd how meno can make you think so irrationally sometimes huh?

Right there with you! Been noting an increase in my headaches over the past two months and they are longer in duration than ever before. One thing to note though. If you can manage to NOT overdo the pain medication ie: Advil or Tylenol then try to do so. These OTC meds are well known for their ability to cause "Rebound headaches" making it appear that your headache is not responding to them at all. Try if you can to delete a dose or even get through most of the day without them. I think you may be surprised to find a difference within 24 hours. Hope you feel better soon hon. xx

Hi Jaemama ......... don't be afraid, this is so typical of peri! When peri first kicked in FULL SWING about 2 and a half years ago.......my head went nuts! I had a horrible headache for 6 weeks.....it would press horribly on my left temple...then, the right.....like someone had their thumb pressing in there .... then, it went to horrible sinus headaches during which time i lived on Benedryl! That was awful! I thought for sure i had some sort of brain tumor....but it was nothing! Well,....not nothing,,,,it was HORMONES! Who would've thought! So, yeah, hormones can wreck absolute havoc with our bodies, AND our emotions....you can expect just about anything ... i mean, in all honesty, don't be to alarmed or thrown off, if the weirdest, strangest things happen..... it's all part of this time, and we are all dealing with the same thing ...so, don't worry, you're not alone! -------------------- __________________

Yeah babe, as all the other lovelies said.......if you are close to your period they will up the ante in the headaches dept.,.....since being on the pill, I have noticed a difference in headaches and intensity........I still get crappy sinus but the pressing annoying nauseous headaches have ramped right down.......the weird feelings have lessened as well........have you got a doctor to talk to about this? You really need to get it sorted sweets.......I hate seeing people suffer with this hormone STUFF!! Nasty buggers
Good luck, babe.......hope you feel better soon...... -------------------- What the hell is going on?

I get headaches sometimes which last for three days. It usually happens around my period. Nausea, weakness, flu-like symptoms also. I'll be 45 this year and get regular periods with heavy on day two, also. Since your CT scan is normal, as well as the other tests, it's most likely just hormonal. Hormonal headaches are very common. Chiropractic adjustments to my neck help me, as well as massaging around my temples or other sore areas on my head. If you chart your cycle you may notice some patterns (i.e. around ovulation, around the start of the period, etc.). Hang in there! I truly understand the frustration of having headaches that last for days. My headaches like this started with all my other peri symptoms five years ago... |

I love this site and all you lovely ladies! Thank you for taking the time to read and respond to my post. I always find reassurance in reading your posts. I got through the day and the headache seems to be gone now. I only had to take ibuprofen once today although the headache lasted most of the day. I noticed pinkish stuff in my panty liner (sorry TMI) too so I'll should be starting on time, by Weds. Ugh, this peri stuff is the pitts! And it doesn't help that I am normally an anxious person and have had my share of health anxiety. My doctor knows this of me, so everytime I go to her for my symptoms, she recommends I start ADs again, which I don't feel I need yet at this point. She had the classic hot flashes but that's about it, during her perimenopausal years so I don't think she's really up on all of this stuff. I'll try to talk to her again about it. Thanks again to all of you who read and responded! |

I was getting the 3 day migraines every month , right before my period, then id get them DURING, then id get them AFTER, always for 3 days and they were so painful i swear i was gonna die of a stroke or annurysm every time. it lasted for a couple of years like that then just recently they changed, i still get them around my period but they're less painful and they last for 7 days or so. when they were really bad id get horrible dizziness and nausea and all i could do was go to bed and curl up in a ball and wait to die. nothing worked for the pain at all. the last headache i had i took 2 regular aspirin and it actually took it away. i was amazed. when they were really bad i also would take my ativan and it would help me not to freak out with fears about dying from them. Hope you feel better soon!

Did you have a CT scan while you had the headache? Perhaps they should also do an MRI with and without contrast too. Did they give you any medication for it? I've had a daily headache problem for just over 3 years now and they can't figue it out. Gave me a diagnosis of New Daily Persistent Headache and nothing has helped me. I feel like I'm wearing a tight cap on my head 24/7...some days it's tighter than others.
I hope you feel better soon. Hugs, Karen |
