I couldn't decide where to post this....under looking good or the Bio Board...

Has anyone being doing research on applying E or T to their face...and if so, what were the results?

Here is a little of what I have found...

Topical Estriol face cream (0.6% to 1.5%) is used to treat Hirsutism, excess facial hair around lip, jaw and neck in women.

~~~~ ....revealed significant, or even highly significant, decreases of wrinkle depth in the estradiol and the estriol groups.
abstract... http://www.medscape.com/medline/abstract/8876303
Estrogens promote the growth of scalp hair, while they inhibit the growth of hair elsewhere on the body.
"Women often notice increased hair loss when there is a sudden drop in estrogens: post-partum, after stopping the Pill, and at the onset of menopause. It is estimated that a woman may lose as much as 20% of her hair at menopause. Both post-partum and menopausal hair loss, however, are not classified as androgenic alopecia, but as "endocrine alopecia," which should really be called "estrogen-withdrawal alopecia."
This is an interesting article...
A week cream of Progest seems to have benefits, too.
A study published in The British Journal of Dermatology in September 2005 seems to point in that direction. This 16-week study in 40 women, conducted by Dr. Holzer and colleagues, evaluated the effects of 2% progesterone cream on function and texture of the skin in women at or after menopause. The study design was robust: double-blind, placebo-controlled, and randomized. The results showed 23% increase in skin firmness, 29% reduction in wrinkle count near the eye and almost 10% reduction of the depth of laugh lines. No serious side-effects were observed.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....Where else should we put the stuff? LOL!
Shebee
If any of you have tried this, I would love to hear the results.
Shebee,
I have read that testosterone should only be applied to pubic area, or underarms, where you want hair to grow, anywhere else, if you apply consistently, it will trigger hair grow in unwanted places.
Estriol is ok on facial skin, it may combat facial hair growth, and help with wrinkles. But I think it has to be complemented with P-cream, as it is still estrogen.
Progesterone should be applied to skin that blushes, think skin on the neck, chest, etc. Not on tummy or thighs with fat cells.
This is what I would do if I use the hormonal creams, for sure never will apply T cream to my face. wink.gif
I tried estriol cream on my face once and it made me feel dreadfully ill! I would never use it that close to my brain again-seriously I thought I was going crazy ohmy.gif
Mind you-I have found I am sensitive to estriol anyway but it seemed to have a much stronger systemic effect on my face.
Iradan is right-it is still estrogen! Not to be used lightly in my opinion
Janet,
I wonder if the vaginal route for all hormones is the best, this way it mimics ovarian function. Further from heart, brain, and breasts, LOL.
Estrogen can be very brain stimulating, I think, but I no longer remember what does it feel like, most daily my brain are in hazy, foggy, sleepy mode aggravated by jitters and shakes.
Yes I tried putting estriol cream, designed for vaginal use, on my face - both neat and also mixed with moisturiser. On the lips, used neat, it did seem to have a plumping effect. I didn't get any mood effects from applying it on my face. However estrogen supplementation does seem to produce brown spots on the skin in me - when I first started conventional HRT (since discontinued) I developed a brown spot on my cheek. When I applied estriol cream to my lips, I developed a small brown spot there, so I stopped applying it to my face.
