I have been on BHRT for 8 months now and still feel horrible. It is making no difference at all. Since I no longer want to live with this depression/anxiety I decided to try Premarin along with progesterone or prometrium. What I want to know is have you gotten any relief using the Premarin and how much Premarin and progesterone do you use. Do you cycle it or just take it daily. I started out with .625 Premarin and am not sure how much progesterone to take. I would prefer to stick with the Premarin and progesterone rather than the Prempro because it seems to be a safer alternative. I am asking all of this because a good friend of mine found no relief with BHRT after trying it for two years and then when switching to Prempro she got her life back. I am ready to get my life back now!! Thanks for any information you may have.

From what my doc told me, the mgs you take can vary from person to person. When I first started taking them it was a trial and error sort of thing. My doc had to change the mgs several times before I started feeling better. Maybe this is the case for you? Have you discussed this with your doc? Maybe you need more mgs. Mine started out too high and my dosage was decreased. I did not take any hrt in combination with the bhrt. I have a personal preference to not take any hrts. After adjusting the mgs, I did feel much better. My periods were finally cycling correctly. And yes, I took it for 10 days during certain days of my cycle. LLW |

Hi Bev,
I know that most women on this site are against HRT. But if it interferes with your life to the point of not living or enjoying life anymore, than I say I would rather take the hormones. I have been on premarin for years now and it has truly been a life saver. I cycle with progesterone for 10 days of the month and then have a bleed. It didn't take long for me to feel better at all. However, with the new price increase of over 800% for premarin, the doctors have switched all patients to a more affordable estrogen called C.E.S. I just started the new one today and started at .625 however I was at a little lowere dose on premarin. I am hopeful, that this hormone is similar and that I feel the same on it. If not, I will go back to premarin and have to pay the outrageous price increase. I live in Canada, did the price also increase in the States. Hang in there for about a month on the premarin. If you feel no relief than adjusting the dose mightbe all that you need. Take care and hope you feel you feel better soon.l Mickey |

Thank God I enjoy good health.Get the regular Gyno. check ups. When I told my Mother about HRT,she told me to stop taking drugs. She is 84 and seem to think I was on Meths. or something. She also added that if I felt that bad to take a good swig of brandy. But she would not be sending me of Rehab-like "That Silly Amy Winehouse" I had to laugh. All the Best Elizabeth |

All the Best Elizabeth Hi Elizabeth Ditto for me. HRT saved my life. I would rather take bio's but started on premarin years ago when it was the miracle drug and since then have gone off of it to go on the bio's. they did not work for me , so I went back on premarin. What ever works for one person should be there own perogative. We are making informed choices. Those who don't walk in our shoes should not criticize. I also get regular check ups and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Believe me if I did not have to take anything, I certainly would not. but I am quite the wreck without HRT. Glad that you understand the need for personal choices. Your mother sounds funny===mine says stay on the drugs because you are your old self again. Was I really that bad?????? Take good care bunny |

I have been taking Premarin for the last 20 years. There was a time when i was given C.E.S. and noticed no difference. This is no longer available. What had my knickers in a know last month, was the amazing price increase. From something like 0.24 cents a pill to $1.44 a pill. I called Wyeth and was told it was because of a larger demand! I called a TV station consumer health reporter and she did a story on it.
http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/stor...=medExpress2007 I don't know if I'm allowed to post this but I'll take my chances. The point is this, anyone using this drug needs to sit down and write letters of complaint to Wyeth Pharmaceuticals. I will continue writing about it on my blog for as long as I can keep this story going. The greed of big pharma is just amazing. Hi Elizabeth Ditto for me. HRT saved my life. Take good care bunny Never let anyone tell you what to do or what is right for you. Only you and your doctor should make that decision. |
