Oh boy! It just dawned on me that the reason I have been stinking the past year is from this peri. I've never had a body odor problem before, nor have I ever had a problem with sweating. I used to rarely ever sweat. Didn't break a bead of sweat through either of my kids deliveries.
Now, I stink! A few hours after a shower, I start reeking. I also notice my body getting clammy---not a full blown sweat, but more like a dampness, or clamminess. I'm getting pimples on my breasts and down below. I'm spotting for 25 days now. Very light spotting. All these added to my crazy emotions-----grrr..... I started having to wear bifocals this year. Also, don't know if it has anything to do with this peri. but for the past year I've been drooling like a dog when I sleep. OMG my face is crusted with dried saliva.....I am a poor sight to see in the morning. |

Never needed it. I've also read about deoderant and cancer, but I'm not sure if it's true or not. Now, I have to use mens Gillette Triple action antipersperant. It's the only thing that stops the stench. If I forget to use it, wow...you can smell me coming!! |

Oh, yes add me to the list. I also did not have to ever use deodorant, maybe.....once a week. Now!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, my goodness....I went through months trying to find a deodorant that would last all day. I spent a fortune $$$$$ on deodorant. Let's not talk about the musty smell from having so many hot flashes and drenching sweats hour after hour. Thank God for all the family members who gave me lotions and body splash...hmm...do you think they were giving me a hint? lol

Whose a stinky girl? I know I am. I can't use deoderants and found plain old alcohol works. On your armpits not in your mouth! Well, I GUESS that would work too or at least you wouldn't CARE if you stank! But seriously, I use it on my pits and under my boobs...just don't do it right after shaving...YEOOOOWWWWWWWWWWY! Screamed myself stupid the first time!

I'm just getting into all this, but I have been stinking for the past year or so. I mean, about 1/2 hour out of the shower, with deo (clinical strenght at that). It's embarassing. Glad to know why now. I was never like this before. I'm learning soooooo much here!!

I got bad B.O. when using Progesterone Cream but notice it has died down more even though slowly since stopping it. I also get it moreso after ovulating...I wonder if there's a connection there. Alot of women on the Wiley Protocol also got it horribly when using P. P can also convert into testosterone or cortisol which could be culprits.

Hi Brainfogbetty
I had the same problem about 18 months ago - very smelly and sweaty. I tried a number of products but nothing seemed to work and then my hormones levels changed and I haven't really had a problem since |

Me tooo! I also have never used normal deodorant because of the possible breast cancer connection - always used a mineral salt crystal thingy...... but now, nothing can touch the B.O. I have to wash my armpits with soap and water throughout the day to get rid of it. I hate the sweating... I sweat from my chest above my breasts to the top of my head. Sometmes I just feel hot and go clammy. It happens all day long.
Do other people find they are at some stage of sweating or clamminess practically all day long? Cynthia |

You know I have noticed the same thing. I'm like "honey, do you smell something", lol... then I realize it's me. I was the same as many of you wasn't a big user of deodorant and I still try and not use it unless I really have to. My hormone Dr. advises against it not because of the deodorant itself but because it prevents the toxins from releasing out of your body which he thinks could be a breast cancer link. Also, he definitely believes underwire bras are hindering our breasts from circulating out toxins (or something to that effect). So, I am smelly and braless and I sure hope he doesn't tell me that toothpaste is bad for you cause then I might have to draw the line at being toothless. I'm looking more and more like an aging hippi and trust me it isn't as pretty as you might think it is, lol.... He says you are supposed to lightly massage the side of your breasts out toward your underarms... that's all I remember... lol... I know big help. I have a follow up appt on Sat with him. He scares me a little but I guess he knows his stuff (so I've heard and read), he is really direct and really believes in BHRT and the benefits it can have on our longevity. Anyways I think I went off track... hmmm what a surprise... I say stink with pride....!!

I never sweated in my life before this, now i have a bath use a strong 24 hour mans deodrant that lasts about 3 hours then another wash and more deodrant. I was always a cold person my heating was on constant.
I wouldn't say i was having hot flushes I just feel warm all the time now and sweating but not the bad sweats some people describe. I certainly don't wake up with hot sweats when i'm asleep nothing wakes me up not even a hurricane. |

I started a new topic about this earlier in the week, didn't realise this thread was here. But I know what you are all talking about - I have always been freezing and am normally the one wearing a thick sweater on a warm day - but not anymore - I sweat from my chest up most of the time, and mainly in the mornings. I don't even have to be doing anything strenuous! I am just 'smelly' all of the time!! Its just like my body temperature has been turned up a few notches.

This is a tip the works wonders! I read this tip on another forum, tried it and never used deodorant since and I workout a lot and sweat like a pig.
All you do is apply some rubbing alcohol to a cotton pad and clean under your arms (or where ever it stinks) once a day and you kill the bacteria that cause the BO smell. Pretty simple and rubbing alcohol is cheap! If everyone did this, we'd put the deodorant companies out of business. |

Also you can mix Tea Tree oil and alcohol together for a fresh smell. This can be used on your feet! Maura |

Hi,
Going thru peri. is....many things, including the B.O. problems RosieReal is right with the alcohol tip. The alcohol kills the bactaria - when that all dries - add some baby powder on the arm pits. Ahhh, very nice. You can even get away without deodorant with the alcohol/baby powder thing. I've done that when I've had shaving burns on the arm pits. -------------------- Learning is a Treasure that follow it's owner everywhere.

Dear Ladies
I know this might bring in a lot of hate mail!but honestly I do not sweat, only minimally and it is odourless When diagnosed Post Menopausal at early age I had day and night sweats but again no smell. I live in The Middle East so you can imagine the soaring temperatures.I usually wait till it cools off in the evening before going out. I think the tip about "Rubbing Alcohol "is great . Stay Well And hope everyone cools down soon! Love to you all Elizabeth |
