Hi Ladies,

Just when I think I am better I have something else. *sigh* For the past few months I am getting chest pains (right in the middle) during ovulation and on around day 17 or so a weird "episode" where i feel this odd wave/sensation pass through me almost like I might pass out (which I am totally terrified of!). Then it clears up and I am ok but a bit tired later on. I had my heart checked out months ago and was given the all clear have had several (and all normal) EKGs this is getting tiresome.

Also, hands seem to be colder around this same time...feel like I cant get warm hands and feet are so cold. Will also have almost like a chest cold...chest feels funky with some slight congestion or like my lungs have more fluid. This will go on for a day or so then clear up. WTF? Anyone else?

With all of these crazy things going on plus the anxiety (which has gotten somewhat better after a hypnosis session) how can you decide when you really need to be checked and when to just roll your eyes, grit your teeth and think PERI! IT just *****. I have totally developed a health anxiety and it is exhausting. Seeing a counselor and she is wonderful but how helpful is it really if I keep having all of this weird pain and sensation and possibly have 9 or so more years to look forward to? Does this sort of stuff stop once you actually get to menopause? Its nuts....I feel so....betrayed by my body. I knwot hat sounds silly but thats what I got.

Thanks,

Cat

Also I get this weird facial flush that sometimes makes my skin hurt over my cheeks. I have had two docs tell me not rosacia even though sometimes I breakout in these tiny pimple like blemished along with it. Chalking it up to the joys of peri.

Thanks,

I have something similar,, its below the rib cage though .. around the diaphram,, makes me feel woosey and light headed .. then some pain.... like a deep muscle spasm, I am thinking its digestive .. (it in fact happened to me earlier) and I have started chewing tums when I feel this ,, I will usually burp a good deal afterwards. Once It freaked me out and was quite severe .. then after a few minutes I got the runs .. this is all just so great ..

Curiosity,

I have similar sensations very early in peri and other symptoms like I feel I am having stroke...thinks have settled down some but I am into 6 years of this and I have had numerous EKGs, and other test.

I know it is hard but I think you know your body the best and if you feel you must go to the ER or see your doctor by all means do so. In the course of 6 years since this has started for me, I had been taken away on an ambulance for irregular heart beat, gone to the ER because of breathing problems and have had numerous tests for brain, heart, etc.

Suffice it to say, you are not alone my friend...

OH .. I also wanted to add ,, I have exactly the same thing with the chest congestion too,, feel kinda phlemmy tight chest throat so I do think this is digestive in nature ,, I researched LPR and GERD and they kinda seem to fit .. do you also get a little horse in the throat ?

Curiosity,

have you had your thyroid checked? TSH, Thyroid Antibodies, T3 and T4........

Your symptoms seem reflective of peri, but get your thyroid checked just in case......

Hope you feel better babe......

Thanks ladies...Yep thyroid is good and y doc was kind enough to put it on as a constant lab so I can get it checked whenever I feel the need. He is trying to help me through this as best he can as a GP. *sigh*

Hi Cat,
I have those same problems you mentioned.

I actually call it my "elephant on my chest" that I get right around ovulation time for several days. It gets especially worse when I lie down at night. I also know what you mean about those weird episodes where you think you'll pass out. Scary! Anxiety is another "lovely" addtion to the symptom list. My hands and feet get so cold, too - I get Raynaud's syndrome where my fingers or toes will turn white and numb during certain times of the month. I will sometimes suddenly feel like I have to cough from congestion or a sudden stuffy nose- like I did when I was pregnant many years ago...weird. I also get facial flushing with tiny red bumps.

I, too, wonder when this will end!! I've been going through it for five year now.

I dont have the pain in the chest, I get palpitations which used to scare me...but after many test, all the docs say my heart is fine, my head is clear (ct), bloodwork good except sometimes my estrogen is way off, then other times it ok. Sometimes, oily oily skin, sometimes prickly head and dry skin...oh yea and the anxiety...geeeeesh. I havent had a cycle for months, however, I do still feel ovulation.
I am sorry that you have these symptoms, and all I know is that if I keep moving it is not soo bad. keep writing on this thing and it does help.

Hi there...I too am in Madison, WI. Your doctor sounds fantastic -- is he with UW Health? Is this a GP? I've noticed the last couple of months that I get more sweaty and have heart palpitations right after ovulation and sometimes until my period starts. I've been to the doctor so much I just don't want to go anymore. I'm just exhausted by all the worry. I've also been diagnosed w/ mild GERD (via an esophogram & xrays of my digestive tract) although this past week it's been really bad w/ constant pain/burning in my sternum up to the bottom of my throat. I can feel the acid back there. Of course I worry I'm having heart problems, though. I know how heartburn feels because I've had it before and especially bad during pregnancy 2 yrs ago but I still worry.

My life ended as I once knew it on April 10,2009. Once I get it back I am getting a tatoo that says menopause ****** but I survived it. Then I am buying a Harley Davidson. That is if the symptoms dont kill me first.

Hey Curiosity,

It has gotten better with time..or maybe I no longer get alarmed and freak out cuz we get desensitized to a lot of the symptoms..I don't really know, but u have another PS sister that is with ya on this one.

Take good care of yourself,
