For whatever reason when I get the itchies it starts in my pubic hair area and spreads. It is BAD the last two days or so and getting worse. I also have discovered a "bald" patch where pubic hair used to be up at the top of my pubic line. Smooth, no redness just bald. I am also very very stinky no matter how much I bathe so I know hormones are through the freaking roof right now. Connection? I have heard hormones can make you lose pubic hair but a round patch? Ok it's more oblong but right up at the top of my hairline. Man, I wish the all over itching would stop!!!

Hi Ladybugs,
They say that itchiness can be caused by thyroid dysfunction at menopause. This kind of itching can also occur at the tail end of a pregnancy which suggests that it is rooted in hormonal imbalance. However, you should always check for a fungal infection called Tinea. It can occur in the scalp causing round bald patches, so I don't see any reason why it cannot appear elsewhere! It really likes the groin area. In the unlikely event that it is a small infection, it is easily treatable with antifungal creams.

Hope you get rid of the itchies soon!

Although throid dysfunction can cause the itches at menopause, so can dry skin. I was going crazy with the itches, then bought some Neutrogena bath oil. After my shower, I slap it all over while still in shower and the itches have stopped. It's not greasy and absorbs nicely. I would get itchy in the groin area, and even on my scalp!

I have had the itches on and off for about a year now. Mostly in my legs and arms. There is no rash or anything but I just have to scratch. I also have the body odour change. I feel that my odour has gotten stronger and different. My husband says he hasn't noticed any difference but I really seem to notice it.

Well, I know it's not an infection as it comes and goes along with all the other itching and is always present at the same time. I am severly allergic to grasses and spent the weekend out in the yard while people around us were mowing theirs and think I might have overloaded myself on pollen. I am noticing I itch when sitting at the computer to and just realized I have heater vent in the floor blowing right up my legs and into my face...hmmmmm culprit?
