Trade ya? You can have the itchies...I'll gladly take the hot flashes! I get them both since becoming postmenopausal ~ itchies AND hot flashes. AND night sweats, AND dizzies. I was just adjusting to being PERImenopausal, now I have to get used to being POSTmenopausal. This *****. Men should have to go through it. Hugs! -------------------- 'Kleeo'

OH god, you guys. I have been on and off these boards for years.
For a little while, my flashes got better! I take maca root in an extract form. Seems like the last few months, the suckers are back! And with vengence. I'm like alright already! How many stinkin years do I have to suffer with this? My weight is up. I'm about 25 pounds overweight. I can't seem to loose even while dieting. The worst is the hot flashes though. I feel tired, and I am sooooooo irritable! My poor boyfriend! Why oh why isn't there something out there for relief? wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh xoxoxoxo Lolly Shootz! I just realized I joined this site in 2002! Shoot me now.........................someone please...................... hehehe, just kidding. Really now, how long is this going to go on? I'm frying here! -------------------- Let the Waters Settle[br]You will see the Stars & Moon[br]Mirrored in Your Being ....Rumi

Dear 'Lolly' Have you ever considered either HRT or Bhrt? There are some women who still suffer from a whole host of symptoms well into their seventies.I understand if this is not for you but it seems a shame to be suffering for so long. I remember when I was fully Menopausal and told the Gyno.shoot me now.He replied "But they only shoot horses, don't they? Actually he turned out to be an amazing Gyno.,a very young Egyptian man. I think with the user name of 'Lolly' melting may be a more appropriate expression Either way just want to see you feeling better All the Best Elizabeth |

I can't believe in this day and age there is not a cure for these little s.o.bs!!!!!! Oh, I concur. My quality of life is greatly diminished because of these $%@& hot flashes. Every day for a year & a half. They went away for about a month last summer, then started creeping back, w/out the sweats. But that was not to last. I sweat all day, all night. It wakes me up. Makes me queasy & makes me want to scream. I've tried cohosh, & soy, but neither helped. Now I am trying Red clover. I've got nothing to lose. Hrt is next, no matter the risks, because I, like yourself, am headed for a breakdown! |

But I have three sisters who have had estrogen positive breast cancer, so I have to stay away from HRT. I do not wish to die that way. Soy made my hot flashes increase in intensity and volume. I tried Femiremin with black cohosh, and it didn't help at all. I'm trying black cohosh alone again right now just to see if it might help. I did drink Xango mangosteen juice, which helped a lot for a while. I might try it again. Since I've been off it for a while, maybe it will work again. I was traveling for about a year and went off the juice. I have tried different brands of mangosteen, and in fact have some right now. But it hasn't worked (and isn't working). The Xango was a special blend though, so I'm hoping. I'll let you all know if it helps me like it did before. I agree that men should be the ones who get the hot flashes - with all the other junk we have to put up with!!! -------------------- rkyobo

I cannot believe how alike we all are! I've been screaming with laughter reading all of the comments, which I certainly can relate to. I'm sick as all hell after 3 years so far with these god-forsaken hot flashes. Get this: Last week I had one so bad I locked the doors to my office, took all my clothes off and fanned myself till it passed. What a sight! That was a first for me. My clients are used to me opening and shutting the windows, turning the A/C on and off constantly and dabbing myself. I don't think any of the stuff out there helps.... But it sure feels good to laugh at all these comments! |

I went the HRT route and have not flashed since. Maybe the easy way out but it works The only time you might see me flashing like a Neon Sign is if I sipped some wine.Fatal combination! Anyway,a warm welcome to the Board and we hope you will Post often and share your 'naked secrets!' All the Best Elizabeth |

Hi all, I'm new to this site- Age 51- just started having " thermal" issues- just got back from moving my daughter into her law school dorm in Miami, FLA ( not fun in AUgust with 90 + temp and 100 percent humidity! - !!!!!!! ) I had an hour to kill in the airport coming home and bought a " Cool it" hand held fan- very powerful and helpful ( got it at Brookstone ) IT has a dial for various settings - I also went out and bought a bunch of " little" cotton nighties- ( hubbie loves it! ) I also used to sleep with a " body pillow" - and found that it must conduct heat, as I seem to sweat more when I use it- Has anyone else found this to be true? Hang in there everyone- you have lots of company- Jgirl

I have 4 of those little fans, one spritzes water.
My neice bought me one of those chillos and it does help alot for those awful night sweats I keep it right next to my bed and when a bad one hits I just tuck it under my neck and back and it seems like it ***** the heat out, dont know how else to put it, after about 15 minutes or so I put it back down next to my bed to make sure its nice and cold for the next flash. If you keep it under you while you sleep it stays cool for a good 4-5 hours but I usually end up getting chilled. It is a big help though. I started low dose prozac 9 days ago and am hoping it will give me some relief here soon.....we'll see. |

Because thats really the only reason Im taking it. thanks for the good wishes, Dear Helen It may not even take that amount of time. For some they feel the improvement within in a week or two. Yes it completely got rid of the flashing and flushing So give it a try. I was being conservative about the time frame as I was thinking more along the lines of Depression usage Good Luck Keep us Posted Elizabeth |

I don't care what people think. although one day my hair got caught in it, & another employee had to untangle it for me! |

Oh, I concur. My quality of life is greatly diminished because of these $%@& hot flashes. Every day for a year & a half. They went away for about a month last summer, then started creeping back, w/out the sweats. But that was not to last. I sweat all day, all night. It wakes me up. Hrt is next, no matter the risks, because I, like yourself, am headed for a breakdown! I'm not endorsing anything, but I was just like you about 2 weeks ago. Had tried soy ,black cohosh, st.john's wort, ginseng. ... Had heard and read about Amberen and thought I would give it a try. It actually helps....alot. Now that doesn't mean it will help you but it does help me. I am sooooo much better. Hardly any flashes and when I do have them, they're like little babies compared to how they were 2 months ago. Now granted, some of that may be that the weather is cooler. Don't know for sure about that. But my mood is also more postive cause I know those flashes really bring you down. |
