I'm not complaining but ever since I started menopause (no period for 1 1/2 years, I haven't had hardly any underarm hair. I never had a lot but now I can go weeks and it's just a hair or two. The hair on my legs is still there but more sparse. Has anyone else had this? When I googled it, I got an MD forum where the doctor said if it wasn't all over he wasn't sure, "but she should enjoy it" Still would have liked an explanation.
Also has anyone noticed more hair in their brush/sink? I have very thick hair, but I think I'm losing a bit more since menopause too.

I think that loss of leg and underarm hair is a sure sign of menopause. It is probably one of the more positive effects. Before menopause I had to fight with the fuzz and even got 5 0 clock shadow! Today, I hardly need to consider de-fuzzing measures. Any hairs that appear are so fine. When my hormones were out of balance I was suffering severe migraines and my pubic, and underarm hair grew dark and ferociously. I even developed nasty black hairs on upper lip and chin. Yuk, had to resort to plucking. They have now gone. Phew that's a relief! Perhaps my testosterone levels were high, because that co-incided with my rather angry aggressive stage.
I do lose more hair on my pilow and in the sink these days but I keep blaming my thyroid. I glanced at my reflection in a window whilst shopping the other day and noticed that I was getting some of the gloss black. That's got to be good news too!

When I have my gyn annual this summer, I am going to ask about a thyroid check. I am so tired and a lilttle down, just don't want to do anything but do what I have to do. It fluctuates though, but along with weight that wont budge, all menopause symptoms also, it wouldn't hurt.
I don't miss the shaving, that's for sure, but still get a faint mustache, it's just lighter and easier to get rid of.

It could be because your testosterone level has dropped.
After I had my ovaries removed and my hormones all took a complete nosedive I stopped growing underarm and leg hair and even the little mole hairs that I had to pluck out on my face disappeared. Unfortunately so did my libido- so I am now replacing my testosterone. All my hair has grown back strongly but it is a small price to pay for feeling energetic and upbeat about life again smile.gif
